This is to formally inform all members of the National Union of Ikwerre Students (NUIS), University of Port Harcourt Chapter that a Congress Meeting has been scheduled as follows:

NUIS Pays Courtesy Visit to IAUE Vice-Chancellor

The leadership of the National Union of Ikwerre Students (NUIS), University of Port Harcourt Chapter, today paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Okey Onuchukwu, at his office.

The delegation, led by the President (Mayor), HRSM Eze Comr. Akpelu Golden, was warmly received by the Vice-Chancellor. In his address, Prof. Onuchukwu commended the Union for its commitment to unity and cultural identity among Ikwerre students. He charged the leadership to remain focused, disciplined, and purposeful in their academic pursuits and organizational responsibilities.

The Vice-Chancellor offered fatherly counsel and words of encouragement, emphasizing the importance of integrity, collaboration, and visionary leadership in building a progressive student community. He further reaffirmed his commitment to student development and expressed goodwill toward the Union’s forthcoming programme, assuring his support.
The visit provided an opportunity for meaningful engagement and strengthened institutional ties between the Union and the University leadership.

The NUIS delegation expressed appreciation for the warm reception and pledged continued dedication to promoting unity and excellence among Ikwerre students.

The meeting concluded on a cordial note, with mutual assurances of sustained partnership and support.

NATIONAL UNION OF IKWERRE STUDENTS (NUIS), UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT CHAPTER, HOSTS FRESHERS’ ORIENTATION AND ALUMNI HOMECOMING

The National Union of Ikwerre Students (NUIS), University of Port Harcourt Chapter, successfully hosted its Freshers’ Orientation and Alumni Homecoming, bringing together students, alumni, and distinguished stakeholders in a remarkable celebration of heritage and unity.

The event, led by HRSM Eze Comr. Akpelu Golden, President and Mayor of the Union, formally welcomed newly admitted 100-level students of Ikwerre origin into the fold of the Union. The ceremony served as an official induction, reinforcing the values, identity, and cultural pride that define the Ikwerre people within the academic community.

In the same spirit, alumni members were warmly received and honored for their continued commitment and service to the Union. Their presence reaffirmed that graduation does not mark the end of belonging, but the beginning of lifelong stewardship and mentorship.

The gathering provided a unique platform where elders and senior members engaged the new students with words of wisdom, cultural insights, and guidance, encouraging them to remain conscious of their heritage while pursuing academic excellence.
With over a hundred attendees, including incumbent and past Union executives, representatives of the Student Union Government, and other notable personalities, the event concluded on a vibrant note with cultural songs, dances, and the traditional Aluta gyration.

It was indeed a memorable and impactful occasion.
