As we draw the curtains on , I am left with a deep sense of gratitude, hope, and responsibility.
For a few hours, people from different generations, professions, and experiences came together to have honest conversations about the Niger Delta. We listened to stories, challenged assumptions, shared ideas, and reflected on the realities that communities continue to face decades after oil was discovered in the region.
What makes Look Beyond Oil special is that it is not just another conference. It is a space where community voices meet experts, where young people sit with elders, where lived experiences stand alongside research and data, and where storytelling becomes a tool for learning, healing, and action.
This year's edition reminded us that the Niger Delta story is not only about oil spills, gas flaring, environmental degradation, and loss of livelihoods. It is also about resilience. It is about culture. It is about creativity. It is about people who continue to dream of a better future despite enormous challenges.
From traditional leaders to activists, researchers, artists, storytellers, media practitioners, and young influencers, every voice added something valuable to the conversation.
As organizers, we are humbled by the support, the turnout, and the quality of engagement. To every speaker, partner, volunteer, attendee, and supporter, thank you for believing in this vision.
The success of is not measured by the event itself, but by the conversations that continue after the lights go out, the partnerships that emerge, the stories that are amplified, and the actions that follow.
The Niger Delta story is still being written.
We all have a role to play in shaping the next chapter.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
