Today, The Federal High Court of Nigeria, Abuja delivered judgement in a case between Senator Natasha Akpoti and The Nigerian Senate, Clerk of the Senate, Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio and Chairman, Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges senator challenging her suspension over a period of 6 months for her blatant refusal to conform to the new seating arrangement.
The judge, Justice Binta Nyanko ruled that the Senate had over step boundaries to have suspended the Senator for 6 months thereby denying her constituent effective representation and order her immediate recall back to the Senate while it found her guilty of contempt of court with her satirical apology made on her page after the court had barred all parties to the case from speaking to the media on the case pending it's determination by the court.
The senator was find 5 million Naira, order to make a public apology 2 National dailies within 7 days and a post on her page within 2 days.
