Today, we join the global community to commemorate World AIDS Day with the theme: “Overcoming Disruptions, Sustaining Nigeria’s HIV Response.”

As we honor the progress made, we also reaffirm our commitment to ensuring access to quality HIV prevention, treatment, and care for all, no matter the challenges. Together with communities, partners, and frontline workers, we continue to strengthen resilience, end stigma, and support individuals living with HIV to lead healthy, empowered lives.

Let’s keep working towards a future of zero discrimination, zero new infections, and sustained positive change.

Day 13
16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

Today, we call on stakeholders to prioritize the urgent need to address the violence and discrimination faced by KP. Many individuals within this group experience targeted abuse, physical violence, and systemic exclusion that hinder their access to justice, healthcare, and safety.

Ending gender-based violence against KP requires a commitment to challenging societal norms, enforcing protective laws, and providing safe spaces for healing and empowerment. Let’s work together to ensure that no one is left behind in the fight for equality and justice.

Prioritizing Education to End Gender-Based Violence

Education is a powerful tool in the fight against Gender-Based Violence. Today, we acknowledged the importance of educating individuals especially young people about consent, respect, and equality. By fostering awareness and challenging harmful norms, we can build a generation that rejects violence in all its forms.

💡Take a stand: Support education programs that promote gender equality and respect for all. Together, we can break the cycle of violence.

Day 7: 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

World AIDS Day: Breaking the Link Between GBV and HIV

On this World AIDS Day, we highlight the connection between gender-based violence (GBV) and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Violence and stigma increase vulnerability to HIV, especially for women, girls, and marginalized groups.

To end AIDS, we must tackle GBV by promoting gender equality, ensuring access to healthcare, and creating safe spaces for survivors. Together, we can break this cycle and build a future free from violence and HIV.

Day 6
16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

Breaking Barriers: Ending Violence in Leadership and Public Spaces for All Genders

Today, we spotlight the violence and intimidation faced by individuals, women, men, and non-binary people who step into leadership roles or public spaces. Gender-based violence in politics, workplaces, and public life stifles voices, limits representation, and undermines progress.

Leaders, particularly those challenging societal norms or stereotypes, are often targets of verbal abuse, cyberbullying, and even physical threats. Women leaders face misogyny and harassment, while men and non-binary individuals also encounter violence due to their perceived defiance of traditional gender roles or their advocacy for equality.

This violence discourages participation, creating a power imbalance that perpetuates discrimination. Ending this requires holistic action: enforcing policies that protect leaders from violence, fostering a culture of respect, and addressing the root causes of bias in leadership spaces.

By ensuring that everyone regardless of gender can safely lead and participate in decision-making, we take a critical step toward building an inclusive and equitable society. Let’s break the barriers and protect the rights of all leaders.

Breaking the Silence

As stakeholders, we focus on breaking the silence surrounding gender-based violence (GBV). Too often, survivors are silenced by stigma, fear, or societal norms that normalize abuse. It is time to create safe spaces where survivors feel empowered to speak up and seek help.

We must amplify their voices, advocate for their rights, and ensure access to justice and support services. Together, let us challenge the culture of silence and build a world where every survivor is heard, believed, and supported.

🟠 Day 3
16 Days Of Activism

Empowering Survivors, Breaking Barriers

The society must focus on empowering survivors of Gender-Based Violence by promoting access to justice, support services, and safe spaces. Every survivor deserves to be heard, believed, and supported.

💪 Together, we can create a society where survivors are uplifted and barriers to justice are dismantled. Let’s stand united against GBV!
