Today, the Famba Relief Initiative proudly joins the world in celebrating International Women's Day.

Women are the backbone of our families, communities, and societies. They nurture life, build homes, lead institutions, heal the sick, educate the young, and inspire hope even in the most difficult times. Their strength, resilience, compassion, and wisdom continue to shape a better and more inclusive world.

At Famba Relief Initiative, we recognize and deeply appreciate the invaluable contributions of women in every sphere of life, from mothers and caregivers to professionals, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and change-makers. Your courage, sacrifices, and determination do not go unnoticed.

As we mark this important day, we also reflect on this year’s theme:

Many of the problems can be avoided with better habits and early care.

Atainu was always busy. Fast food was convenient, sleep was optional, and exercise felt like a luxury he couldn’t afford. Whenever his wife suggested a clinic visit or a walk in the evening, he laughed it off. “I’ll rest when things slow down,” he said.

Years passed, and small warning signs appeared, constant fatigue, weight gain, frequent headaches. Atainu ignored them until one afternoon when he felt dizzy at work and was rushed to the hospital. The doctor explained that many of his problems could have been avoided with better habits and early care.

As Atainu began making small changes; eating better, walking daily, and attending regular check-ups, his strength slowly returned. He wished he had started earlier, but he was grateful he started at all.

Healthy choices today prevent illness tomorrow.

Our support to eradicate all forms of female ge***al mutilation is still positive. Female ge***al mutilation is a terrible practice that infringes on the rights, health, and dignity of girls and women.

We can safeguard girls, challenge harmful conventions, and also create a safer and healthier future by raising awareness, providing education, and carrying out awareness programmes.

Cancer awareness, early detection, and access to effective care can help save lives. Nobody should fight cancer alone; with information, support, and compassion, we can eliminate stigma and boost hope.

Data from the United Nations Children’s Fund (2025) indicate that over 18.3 million children in Nigeria are currently not attending school, with the majority coming from rural or displaced communities.

Imagine what the fate of an average Nigerian child will be without access to quality education. Education is a right, and not just a privilege, for our children. Let us help the Nigerian child by building a better future through learning.
