HEALING AFTER DIVORCE
Your marriage ended. Your life did not.
Dear Sister,
One of the hardest things about divorce is realizing that you are not only grieving a person.
Sometimes, you are grieving a dream.
The dream of growing old together.
The dream of raising your children under one roof.
The dream of having a family that looked a certain way.
The dream you carried when you said, “I do.”
And when that dream collapses, you may find yourself asking:
“What do I do with my life now?”
First, breathe.
You don't have to have all the answers today.
Healing after divorce is not about pretending that nothing happened.
It is about acknowledging what happened without allowing it to destroy everything that is still possible.
You may cry.
You may feel angry.
You may feel relieved and guilty for feeling relieved.
You may miss the person.
You may miss the routine.
You may even miss parts of a relationship that was not good for you.
All of these emotions can coexist.
Healing doesn't mean you will forget.
It means the memory will eventually stop controlling your life.
And please don't rush into another relationship simply because you are afraid of being alone.
Sometimes, the greatest gift you can give yourself after a painful ending is time.
Time to understand yourself.
Time to heal.
Time to rebuild.
Time to rediscover your dreams.
Time to become the woman you were before you became someone's wife or someone's ex-wife.
REMEMBER:
You are not your divorce.
You are still a woman with gifts, dreams, abilities, purpose, and possibilities.
Your next chapter may not look like the one you planned.
But that doesn't mean it can not be beautiful.
Good morning, sisters.
Please invite other sisters.
Have a beautiful day.
