The New Anthem, "Nigeria We Hail Thee" composed in Epie language by Hon. (Chief) Ayibanegiyefa Egba.

Hon. Egba is a Linguist and also a member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly. She has been a staunch advocate of the development of Epie language.

Epie is one of the languages spoken in Bayelsa alongside Ijaw and others.

For years, I have been on this advocacy:
1. That Nigerian Pidgin should be recognized as an official language in Nigeria
2. It should be taught in Nigerian Schools

It's a good thing that a scholar from outside the shore of this country has added her voice to it. Maybe, now, it will become a discussion.

Nigerian Pidgin not Not Nigerian Pidgin English is a language and the most populous lingual Franca in Nigeria that has gotten international dialects also.

What's holding it?


A United States–based language expert, Dr. Foluso Okebiorun, has called for the inclusion of Nigerian Pidgin English in the national school curriculum,

We are still advocating and speaking out!
Today, by 1pm, we shall be Live Today95.1fm to dissect the new foreign languages added to the Senior Secondary Schools curriculum in Nigeria.

We shall look at its undertone, prospect and challenges of course in relation to our indigenous languages and development generally.
