𝐂𝐀𝐅𝐎𝐃 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲-𝐋𝐞𝐝 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭

JDPC Pankshin was pleased to welcome our partners, CAFOD, on a monitoring visit to assess the progress and impact of our joint community development project. The visit provided an opportunity for meaningful discussions with stakeholders, community participants, and project beneficiaries, who shared stories of change and the positive outcomes achieved through the project. It was encouraging to witness communities taking ownership of their development initiatives. In Tilengpat, community members successfully mobilized resources to construct a three-block classroom, while in Gyeghat, land was allocated for the establishment of a health centre to improve access to healthcare services.

The monitoring visit also included a productive meeting with the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Pankshin, where discussions focused on the project's achievements, sustainability, and future opportunities for collaboration. The visit reaffirmed the importance of partnership, community participation, and local leadership in driving sustainable development and creating lasting impact in our communities.

The third and final day of the Hygiene By-Law Formulation Workshop organized by JDPC Pankshin in collaboration with CAFOD marked a significant milestone as participants and stakeholders worked together to draft hygiene by-laws for their respective communities. Representatives from Kasuwan Ali, Sabon Gari, Bungha, and Push*t developed community-specific by-laws designed to address poor hygiene practices and promote healthier living environments. The documents also included provisions for endorsement and signing by community leaders, ensuring legitimacy, ownership, and commitment toward implementation. This process demonstrated the collective determination of stakeholders to transform ideas into practical actions that will improve public health and sanitation outcomes.

A key outcome of the workshop was the establishment of community structures and committees responsible for promoting awareness, monitoring compliance, and applying agreed penalties where necessary to encourage adherence to the by-laws. Participants committed to returning to their communities to step down and disseminate the by-laws, ensuring that every community member understands their roles and responsibilities. The strong collaboration between local government officials, traditional and religious leaders, WASHCOM members, and community representatives created a powerful partnership that will help bring these by-laws to life and sustain positive hygiene behaviors for cleaner, healthier, and more resilient communities.

𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐖𝐀𝐒𝐇 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

Day 2 of the 3-day Hygiene By-Law Formulation Workshop organized by JDPC Pankshin in collaboration with CAFOD focused on strengthening stakeholder participation and defining roles for sustainable community development. Participants were divided into groups comprising religious leaders, community leaders, WASHCOM representatives, and officials from Mangu LGA WASH and Environmental Departments. Through interactive group discussions and presentations, participants identified their unique roles and responsibilities in promoting good hygiene practices, protecting public health, and supporting the development and implementation of community hygiene by-laws.

The session encouraged collaboration, accountability, and shared ownership of WASH initiatives across Kasuwan Ali, Sabon Gari, Bungha, and Push*t communities. Participants reflected on the importance of leadership, community mobilization, advocacy, environmental sanitation, and behavior change in creating healthier and cleaner communities. The group work provided an opportunity to develop practical strategies for addressing local hygiene challenges while fostering stronger partnerships among key stakeholders committed to improving the well-being of their communities.

JDPC Pankshin, in collaboration with CAFOD, commenced a 3-day workshop bringing together religious leaders, traditional rulers, opinion leaders, and local government representatives from Kasuwan Ali, Sabon Gari, Bungha, and Push*t communities to develop hygiene by-laws aimed at addressing negative hygiene practices. The first day of the workshop focused on building a strong foundation on the importance of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), highlighting the benefits of good hygiene and personal hygiene practices in promoting healthier and more resilient communities. Participants actively engaged in discussions, knowledge sharing, and practical learning sessions designed to inspire positive behavioral change.

The workshop provided a valuable platform for stakeholders to collectively explore sustainable solutions to hygiene-related challenges affecting their communities. Through collaboration, experience sharing, and a shared commitment to public health, participants are laying the groundwork for stronger community ownership of hygiene practices and the development of effective by-laws that will contribute to cleaner, safer, and healthier environments for all.
