Oyo State Progressives Must Rise in Defence of Oloye Bayo Adelabu!

There is a deliberate and coordinated attempt to rubbish the name of Oloye Bayo Adelabu, and Oyo people must see this game for what it is.

The facts are public. The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has confirmed that the recent drop in power supply is due to gas pipeline vandalism affecting generation nationwide. This has nothing to do with Oloye Adelabu’s competence as Minister of Power.

Yet, some interests, clearly uncomfortable with his growing influence, are pushing a false narrative. Let’s not pretend this is about electricity alone. This is Oyo State politics at play.

Certain political elements in Oyo are rattled. They know that Oloye Bayo Adelabu is no longer just a state actor but a national figure, trusted by the President. That reality scares them.

Let it be said plainly: Oloye Adelabu did not vandalise gas pipelines. What he is doing is tackling long-standing structural problems in the power sector; problems he inherited.

I call on progressives in Oyo State: this is not the time to sit on the fence. Whether or not he is your preferred governorship candidate is beside the point. Today, he is an appointee of our President and a major stakeholder in our party.

Do not hide.

Do not keep quiet.

Stand by your own.

Oyo politics should be about strength, unity, and truth, not cheap propaganda.

In a bold move to honour and sustain this heritage, Chief Adebayo Adelabu (Penkelemesi) has stepped forward to rekindle, preserve, and project the memory of the iconic leader for today’s generation and those yet to come.

This is more than an event; it is a statement of continuity and respect for history. The memory lives on, the torch is firmly carried forward, and the spirit of Mọlẹtẹ is renewed.
