Catch Them Young – The Female Gender Initiative (CTY-FGI)Biography
Catch Them Young – The Female Gender Initiative (CTY-FGI) is a visionary, non-governmental organization dedicated to building a safer, more equitable Africa where women and girls live free from domestic violence, sexual abuse, and all forms of gender-based oppression. Established with a forward-thinking approach to prevention, the initiative focuses on early intervention—empowering young girls with knowledge, confidence, and life skills that enable them to recognize, resist, and report abuse.
Operating across communities in Africa, CTY-FGI is driven by the belief that lasting societal change begins with education and awareness at a young age. The organization works at the intersection of advocacy, education, and community engagement, implementing programs that address the root causes of violence while promoting gender equality and human rights.
Through school-based campaigns, grassroots outreach, mentorship programs, and media advocacy, CTY-FGI creates safe spaces where girls can learn, speak up, and thrive. The initiative also engages parents, educators, and community leaders, fostering a collective responsibility to protect and support the female gender.
In addition to prevention, CTY-FGI provides support pathways for survivors of abuse—connecting them with counseling, legal guidance, and rehabilitation services through strategic partnerships. By amplifying voices and challenging harmful cultural norms, the organization plays a critical role in reshaping attitudes and strengthening protective systems for women and girls.
