WHEN STARS MEET STARS: THE POWER OF LEADERSHIP, CONNECTION AND INFLUENCE

Just a few nights ago, we gathered at Swiss Beland Hotel, Port-Harcourt Road, to celebrate our brother and leader, Utibe Emmanuel Milo Chidera Udo. It was a quiet night, but the gathering carried something much bigger than a birthday celebration, it was a meeting of leadership, experience, friendship and influence.

In that picture are leaders who have served, sacrificed and contributed to the growth of the Rotary family. Among them are PADRR Franklin Uba a Past Assistant District Rotaract Representative, PADRR Ikechukwu Ovuoba and Milo himself, a past president of the Rotary Rotaract Club Of World Bank, past president of the Rotary Club of Government House, Owerri, and today, our club advisor.

And there I stood not simply as a young Rotaractor, but as the current president of the Rotaract Club of World Bank, learning from those who have walked the path before me.

This is what leadership should look like.

Stars must always meet stars.

If you are young and you desire growth, never isolate yourself. Deliberately seek people whose minds challenge you, whose experience teaches you, whose character inspires you, and whose influence pushes you toward becoming better.

Leadership is not only about occupying a position. Sometimes, leadership is about who you sit with, who you learn from, who you connect with, and who you are willing to become because of the people around you.

Build relationships. Network with purpose. Learn from experience. Share ideas. Create opportunities. Influence positively. And most importantly, use whatever position you occupy to make somebody else's journey better.

The right connections can open your mind before they open doors.

To the younger generation: don't just look for people who can help you; look for people from whom you can learn, grow and become a better version of yourself.

When good minds connect, ideas grow.
When leaders connect, influence multiplies.
When people of purpose connect, impact becomes inevitable.

That is the kind of leadership community we must continue to build, one where experience meets ambition, wisdom meets energy, and leaders raise other leaders.

Happy New Month Esteemed leaders, Partners In Service above Self and Dear Friends!

August holds a special place in Rotary because it is dedicated to Membership and New Club Development. It is a time to reflect on the people who introduced us to this incredible family and to extend that same opportunity to others.

As I reflect on my own Rotary journey, I cannot help but smile. In 2021, I was introduced to Rotaract by a very good friend and classmate Rotr. Ikechukwu Ovuoba. At the time, I had little idea that accepting that invitation would become one of the most life-changing decisions I would ever make.

I was inducted into the Rotaract Club of World Bank: The Exclusive Family, Owerri, and from that moment, Rotaract became more than an organization to me, it became a family. I was given opportunities to grow, to learn, and to serve. I served as the Youth Protection Officer, had the privilege of serving twice as Club Secretary, and today, by the grace of God and the confidence of our members, I am honoured to serve as your President.

This journey reminds me that one invitation can change a life. Someone invited me. Today, I invite you.

Rotaract is more than meetings and projects. It is a platform for leadership development, lifelong friendships, professional networking, mentorship, community service, and personal growth. It connects people with a shared passion for making the world a better place through service above self.

Through Rotary's Areas of Focus, we continue to touch lives by promoting peace, preventing and treating diseases, providing clean water and sanitation, supporting maternal and child health, advancing basic education and literacy, growing local economies, and protecting the environment. Every project we undertake is another opportunity to leave our community better than we found it.

As President, my vision for this Rotary year is clear:

- To build an active and vibrant fellowship where every member feels valued.
- To execute sustainable and impactful community service projects.
- To strengthen our membership through intentional recruitment, engagement, and retention.
- To develop leaders who will continue the legacy of Rotary service.

This month, I challenge every Rotaractor and intending Rotaractor to become a Rotary ambassador. Share your story. Invite a friend to our fellowship. Follow up with intending members. Let people experience the warmth, purpose, and opportunities that Rotary offers.

The future of our club is not determined by numbers alone but by committed people who are willing to serve, lead, and inspire others.

Together, let us grow our family, strengthen our impact, and continue to make a lasting difference in our communities.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: POSTPONEMENT OF THE PRESIDENTIAL INSTALLATION CEREMONY

Dear Rotarians, Rotaractors, My 001 friends, partners, family, and well-wishers,

Warm Rotary greetings.

After careful deliberation, the Board of Directors, in conjunction with the Installation Planning Committee, has resolved to postpone the Presidential Installation Ceremony to Saturday, 21st November 2026.

This decision was made to allow us adequate time for further planning, preparation, and coordination, ensuring that the installation reflects the excellence, impact, and fellowship that Rotary represents.

As we continue preparations, we humbly appeal for your continued support. A Rotaract installation is a significant occasion that brings together leaders, partners, friends, and members in celebration of service above self. We have many meaningful activities planned, and your support will help make them a reality.

From now until November, we welcome every form of assistance. Whether through financial contributions, sponsorship, in-kind donations, professional services, words of encouragement, or valuable advice, every gesture is deeply appreciated.
