Gender-based violence (GBV) is a profound and pervasive violation of human rights that targets individuals based on their gender, disproportionately affecting women and girls. It takes various forms, including physical abuse, sexual violence, emotional and psychological torture, and economic coercion. Rooted in historical gender inequality and power imbalances, GBV is not just an individual tragedy but a global crisis that hinders social development and economic progress.

Its consequences are devastating, leading to physical injuries, long-term health problems, mental trauma, social isolation, and sometimes death.

Addressing GBV requires a multi-faceted approach, encompassing robust legal frameworks to hold perpetrators accountable, comprehensive support services for survivors, and societal shifts to challenge the deeply ingrained norms and stereotypes that perpetuate this cycle of violence.

Tuesday’s International Day of Women Judges is an opportunity to highlight the importance of women’s full and equal participation at all levels of the judiciary — and to recognize the progress made so far.

WORLD KIDNEY DAY

The kidneys are vital organs that filter waste and excess fluids from the blood, producing urine to keep the body balanced. They also regulate blood pressure, maintain electrolyte levels, and support red blood cell production. Healthy kidneys are essential for overall wellbeing, making hydration, balanced nutrition, and regular medical checkups important for protecting their function.

Avoid taking alcohol, smoking, ingestion of gard drugs etc. Drink enough water to stay healthy.
