Is the greatest threat to justice a criminal in the shadows, or a society convinced it is doing the right thing?

In Harper Lee's , prejudice delivers a verdict long before the trial begins, proving that facts alone cannot defeat deep-seated bias when the system chooses collective belief over individual truth.

This is a mirror for our own reality. In Nigeria, the Judiciary is more than an arbiter of statutes; it is the final barrier between order and chaos.

NIGERIA AND DEMOCRACY DAY: HOW FAR HAVE WE GONE? 🇳🇬
June 12 is more than just a date on the national calendar. It is a mirror.
Thirty-three years ago, in 1993, Nigerians stepped out in what remains the freest and fairest election in our history. They voted across ethnic and religious lines, choosing a path of unity and hope. When that mandate was annulled, it didn't just break a process; it birthed a long, grueling struggle for the soul of our nation.
Many patriots paid the ultimate price, and countless others endured years of silence and persecution so that we could be where we are today.
As we reflect on "Democracy Day" in Nigeria, it’s worth asking: How far have we really gone?
We often talk about the impact of policies—in our workplaces, our classrooms, and our tech ecosystems—but how often do we interrogate the process? We have moved past the era of military rule, and we have enjoyed years of uninterrupted civilian governance. Yet, the struggle has shifted. Today, the battle isn't for the return of democracy, but for its depth.

CAN’T WE LIVE TOGETHER:
This is a socially conscious novel set in the tumultuous Plateau community of Dorowa Babuje in Nigeria. The story explores peaceful coexistence, friendship, culture, land ownership, mining exploitation, and the gradual rise of ethnic tension among neighboring communities.

At the center of the novel are two teenage girls — Nyam Gyang, a hardworking Berom girl who dreams of becoming a doctor, and Shatu Ardo-Samba, a spirited Fulani girl who dreams of becoming a pilot. Despite their different ethnic and religious backgrounds, they share a deep friendship that symbolizes unity and hope for the future.

IS PUBLIC CONFIDENCE IN NIGERIAN JUDICIARY FRACTURING?⚖️⚖️⚖️

The Judiciary is the only branch of government that survives entirely on a single, invisible currency: PUBLIC TRUST. Unlike the other branches, the courts wield neither the "purse" nor the "sword." Their power lies in the moral authority of their pronouncements.

Looking back at the history of the Nigerian Supreme Court—even during the constraints of military rule—judgments carried a "sacred finality." This wasn't just because they were binding, but because they were convincing. One could disagree with a ruling, but the discipline, clarity, and intellectual honesty of the reasoning were almost impossible to dismiss.

The Shift We Face Today
What is troubling today is not just the outcome of specific cases, but the "creeping perception" that judicial reasoning is being diluted by extraneous considerations.

When the public begins to suspect that factors outside the Law are influencing the Bench, the damage is systemic:
