Yesterday, Jdpmc Osogbo convened a High-Level Political Dialogue on Election Security ahead of the 2026 Osun State Gubernatorial Election and officially unveiled the JDPMC Election Vigilance Dashboard (JEVID 2026) Inside Òṣogbo
The dialogue brought together key stakeholders, including Most Rev. John Akin Oyejola, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Osogbo and Chairman of the Conference of Heads of Mainline Churches in Osogbo; Bishops of Mainline Churches; the Special Adviser to the Grand Imam of Osogbo Land; the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC; the Osun State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA); the Police Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Police Command; representatives of the Department of State Services (DSS); the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC); chairmen and representatives of political parties in Osun State; sister Civil Society Organisations; and the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD).
The dialogue focused on JDPMC Osogbo's findings on the scale, patterns, and evolving consequences of pre-election violence in Osun State ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election, while also introducing JEVID 2026, a digital platform designed to strengthen election monitoring, promote early warning, and support peaceful, credible, and inclusive elections.
Participants shared valuable insights, reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful electoral processes, and commended JDPMC Osogbo for its proactive efforts in identifying emerging risks, fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration, and encouraging relevant institutions to fulfill their responsibilities toward ensuring a violence-free election.
