The reason, the reality not your President's rhetoric!

Tooth, again.

Drove 200 miles with his family to have his tooth checked? I'm not sure that it is this grievous here!
I thought health care in the US is getting better?
Nice initiative.
Needs replication!

Dental issues are medical issues, when ignored or mismanaged, the ultimate price can be paid for it.
Attend to them, early!

Emmanuel Damas, a 56-year-old Haitian asylum seeker, died on Monday, March 3, 2026, at a Scottsdale, Arizona, hospital from complications of an infected tooth. He had been held for four months at the Florence Correctional Center, a facility operated by CoreCivic under contract with ICE. He entered the U.S. through the Biden-era humanitarian parole program for Haitians and had a pending asylum claim.
According to his family and Chandler City Councilwoman Christine Ellis — a registered nurse who spoke with the family — Damas first reported tooth pain to Florence staff on February 12 and was given ibuprofen. His condition worsened over the following two weeks. A fellow detainee reported that staff laughed and said Damas was faking as he cried for help. He eventually collapsed, developed sepsis, and was transferred to a hospital last week, where he died days later.
Damas is at least the 10th person to die in ICE custody in 2026. In 2025, 31 people died in ICE detention — the highest number since 2004. ICE currently holds a record 71,000 people, nearly double the 40,000 it held when Trump took office. ICE had not publicly acknowledged Damas' death as of Wednesday morning. The death was made public by Councilwoman Ellis.
Ellis called for an investigation, saying: "Nobody should die from a toothache. Something has to be done." She has contacted Arizona's congressional delegation. Human rights advocates have long warned that medical care in ICE facilities is inadequate, a concern they say is worsening as the detained population grows faster than the capacity to provide care.

She beat grandmasters at 16 and 17. Some of them had been playing longer than she's been alive.

Jessica Hyatt, a 19-year-old from Brooklyn, is now the highest-rated African American female chess player in U.S. history. She earned her National Master title in August 2024, becoming the youngest African American woman to achieve it. She is also a five-time member of the USA National Youth Team.

Hyatt was introduced to chess through Chess in the Schools, a nonprofit that teaches the game in underserved communities. By 14, she had won the New York State Scholastic Championship. In 2021 and 2022, she defeated Grandmasters Michael Rohde and Abhimanyu Mishra, placing her among the very few African American women to ever beat a grandmaster in tournament play. In 2023, she became the KCF All-Girls Nationals Champion. Her chess achievements have earned her over $40,000 in college scholarships.

Hyatt has said she wants to use her platform to mentor young girls of color and expand representation in competitive chess.

Sad!
Tooth extraction can be deadly!
It won't be deadly for us all, in Jesus name!

Matthew Miller, 48 years old, died after a routine tooth extraction in Ohio in August 2023, according to his wife, Brandy Miller. After receiving sedation to have some teeth removed, Matthew stopped breathing during the procedure and went into cardiac arrest, which led to his being taken to the hospital, where he died four days later.

The autopsy attributed his death to complications from the sedation. An investigation by the state dental board found that the doctor did not properly evaluate his medical history and also did not monitor him adequately.

In 2025, the dentist said that he would not change the way he worked, which worried the family. Brandy has filed a civil lawsuit for 25,000 dollars to seek justice and prevent others from suffering similar tragedies.
