*SUBJECT: ETIOKWE FLAGS OFF FOUNDATION LAYING CEREMONY FOR THE REMODELING OF EKE OKWUDOR MARKET*
Yesterday, Friday, May 22, 2026, the Performing Executive Chairman of Njaba LGA, Hon. Chief Vitalis Ugochukwu Obi, JP (Etiokwe Njaba), officially flagged off the foundation laying ceremony for the remodeling of Eke Okwudor Market in Okwudor Ancient Kingdom, earning widespread applause from dignitaries and stakeholders present at the event.
The event attracted several dignitaries, including the Member representing Njaba State Constituency at the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Chief Engr. Ozioma Ebonine Worship (Ezengwori Njaba), the Hon. Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Investment, represented by Engr. Alexander Abakporo, Director of Planning, Research and Statistics in the Ministry, the Leader of the Njaba Legislative Council and Leader of all Legislative Council Leaders in Imo State, Rt. Hon. Chigozie Ibenjo (Abana Njaba), traditional rulers, political leaders, and other stakeholders, who all commended the Executive Chairman for his commitment to development in Njaba LGA.
Speaking during the event, the traditional ruler of Okwudor Ancient Kingdom, HRH Eze Barr. Ben Chidi Onuora (Obi of Okwudor), praised Etiokwe for his foresight, resilience, and leadership. He also urged sons and daughters of Okwudor to support the project by acquiring shops in the market, noting that it would help boost economic activities in the community.
Also speaking, the President-General of Okwudor, Ichie Joachim Mbama, and the Chairman of the Eke Okwudor Market Remodeling Committee, Dr. Etienne Chukwuma Chinakwe, assured the people that they would ensure proper ex*****on of the project while maintaining quality standards, even as they applauded Etiokwe for his wonderful leadership and commitment toward the development of Njaba LGA.
In his remarks, Etiokwe expressed happiness that the vision for the remodeling of the market was becoming a reality. He thanked everyone who keyed into the project and appreciated the developers for their support and partnership.
Etiokwe noted that when completed, the market would create more business opportunities for traders and residents, while further improving economic activities in Njaba LGA. He described the location of the market as strategic and expressed confidence that the market would flourish and become a major commercial hub in the LGA.
Etiokwe stated that the project is aimed at improving commerce and providing a better business environment for traders and people of Njaba. He further assured the people of his administration’s commitment to projects that would positively impact lives through the SHE-WARI agenda.
Other dignitaries who accompanied Etiokwe included, Hon. Mrs. Rhoda Ukam, Vice Chairman of Njaba LGA, Hon. Williams Obilom (Youngest), Supervisory Councillor for Works, Amb. Anthony Akalugo, Super SA, and Comr. Chibuike Duruoha, SA to the Executive Chairman on New Media and Special Duties, among others.
