Today in history, we remember the sacrifices of men and women who gave their sweat, their voices, and even their lives so that we might stand free. They envisioned a Nigeria where justice, equity, unity, and progress would be the inheritance of every citizen.
Sadly, those sacrifices appear to have been betrayed, as our nation bleeds from corruption, inequality, hunger, insecurity, and disunity.
The Onne community, being a subset of the Nigerian state, is not exempt from the misfortunes of unemployment and underdevelopment.
Onbehalf of our dear forum, i sincerely appreciate our leaders and individuals who have continued to facilitate the employment of our graduates by sharing opportunities on our platforms and following up diligently. These efforts have led to the employment of about five (5) graduates between January and September 2025.
Even as we acknowledge these modest gains, it is important to update us that twenty-seven (27) fresh graduates of Onne extraction will be passing out (winding up) of the compulsory NYSC scheme on Wednesday, 28th October 2025, Batch C, Stream II, to join the growing number of unemployed graduates.
Consequently, as we celebrate Nigeria at 65, let us honour our land and ancestors beyond speeches and ceremonies but with practical actions. We must prioritize employment for graduates and create real opportunities for our young entrepreneurs.
Let us refuse to normalize bad governance. Let us commit to rebuilding a nation where freedom is real, justice is blind, and progress is shared by all.

Happy Independence Day, Nigeria ๐ณ๐ฌ
