The Governing Council of our dear Forum, respected Chiefs and community leaders, our committed stakeholders,
and my fellow professionals and graduates of the Onne Graduates Forum.

Today in history, we remember the sacrifices of men and women who gave their sweat, their voices, and even their lives so that we might stand free. They envisioned a Nigeria where justice, equity, unity, and progress would be the inheritance of every citizen.

Sadly, those sacrifices appear to have been betrayed, as our nation bleeds from corruption, inequality, hunger, insecurity, and disunity.

The Onne community, being a subset of the Nigerian state, is not exempt from the misfortunes of unemployment and underdevelopment.

Onbehalf of our dear forum, i sincerely appreciate our leaders and individuals who have continued to facilitate the employment of our graduates by sharing opportunities on our platforms and following up diligently. These efforts have led to the employment of about five (5) graduates between January and September 2025.
Even as we acknowledge these modest gains, it is important to update us that twenty-seven (27) fresh graduates of Onne extraction will be passing out (winding up) of the compulsory NYSC scheme on Wednesday, 28th October 2025, Batch C, Stream II, to join the growing number of unemployed graduates.

Consequently, as we celebrate Nigeria at 65, let us honour our land and ancestors beyond speeches and ceremonies but with practical actions. We must prioritize employment for graduates and create real opportunities for our young entrepreneurs.
Let us refuse to normalize bad governance. Let us commit to rebuilding a nation where freedom is real, justice is blind, and progress is shared by all.

Yesterday, our President, Comr. Joseph Obibia Nwigoo, attended the disbursement ceremony for the 2025 beneficiaries of the Late Dr. Emmanuel Micaiah Osarollor Scholarship Scheme, which also featured the graduation ceremony for the 2021 batch.
The scholarship is a worthy tribute to the late Dr. Emmanuel Micaiah Osarollorโ€”the first medical doctor (MBBS, UNN) from Onneโ€”who sadly passed away shortly after graduation.

At the event, 20 indigenous students from Onne received โ‚ฆ200,000 each, with the promise of annual disbursements throughout the duration of their four- or five-year academic programmes.
This laudable initiative is sponsored by Hon. Justice (HRH) Godwin Osaronu Ollor, in honour of his late friend, and is executed in partnership with the Onne Graduate Forum and the Federated Union of Onne Students.

On behalf of the Forum, our President advised the beneficiaries to shun cultism and remain focused on academic excellence. He commended the sponsor for fulfilling the commitment he made to the Forum and the Onne community on March 8, 2020, during his reception ceremony as the second High Court Judge ever produced by Onne, after the late Chief Justice (HRH) Wai-Ogosu.

In conclusion, Mr. President appealed to the Founder and Sponsor, Hon. Justice (HRH) Godwin Osaronu Ollor, to kindly consider extending the scholarship to cover postgraduate students (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) in his future support plans.
