“Pads Alone Are Not Enough”
One thing our outreaches have continued to show us is this:
Giving a girl a sanitary pad is important.
But it is not enough.
Many girls still do not fully understand:
What menstruation is
How to track their menstrual cycle
How to manage their periods hygienically
How to safely dispose sanitary pads
How to handle body changes during puberty
That is why menstrual health education matters.
Because confidence comes from understanding.
During our recent school outreaches, we watched girls move from silence and shyness to confidence and participation simply because someone took time to explain what menstruation truly means.
Some asked questions they had never asked before.
Some finally understood why their body changes happen.
Some learned for the first time that menstruation is normal and not something to be ashamed of.
That moment of understanding changes everything.
Through this campaign, DeCODE led by PrincessCynthia Enweonwu-Arinze and Preserved Childhood Foundation led by Linda Onwusuruaka Nnodiogu continue to align with the global Menstrual Hygiene movement led by
Menstrual Hygiene Day - Global , localizing global concerns and creating safe spaces where girls can learn, ask questions, and grow confidently.
As we prepare for World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026, we continue to call for support and partnership to help us reach more girls with menstrual health education and support.
Because every girl deserves:
Knowledge
Confidence
Dignity
Safe menstrual care
