SURVIVOR'S SUPPORT FUND

Within the catchment of her deliveries for the End Sexual and Gender Based Violence (ESGBV) Project in Oyo State, the European Union in Nigeria and International IDEA invited critical stakeholders to a roundtable discussion on the establishment of a Survivors Support Fund and how this can be governed.

The convene was able to identified some positive strides on how to go about this with suggestions that both the State Actors and Non State Actors have crucial roles to play with a deep concern for the sustainability Plan to begin with the process of establishing SSF.

Cedars for Human Welfare Initiative CEHUWEI as an organization and a member of the Community of Practice on EndingSGBV in Oyo State was in attendance with valuable recommendations.

Our deep appreciation to the Funders and implementers of the intervention in Oyo, Benue and Kaduna States.

THE GENERAL ELECTION 2027

In preparation for the 2027 General Elections coming up in January 2027, Cedars for Human Welfare Initiative in her preparation to support community initiatives was on Advocacy Visit to Oluseun Onigbinde Resource Centre for partnership.

The narrative must change, communities must engage aspirants, our election process must be fair and decent, winners must be tracked and delivered on their campaign agenda.

Follow us, as we intensify efforts to support the electoral process with community demands.

Cedars for Human Welfare Initiative CEHUWEI will be joining other Non Governmental, Community Based and Faith Based Organizations for the CSO Community (CsoC) Oyo State Meeting as scheduled.

Discussions will build around Regulatory compliance, organizations Internal Governance system and the civic space environment in Oyo State.

The non profits will be gathering for positive and efficient resolutions as we reflect on past activities and plans for the upcoming deliveries.

ADIRE MAKING

As we planned to engage about 30 young people in ADIRE Making, just a limited number showed for the training.

YES, the session was held on 9th & 10th September, 2026. The participants can actually tell their positive stories about the Making of ADIRE......

HAPPY RESUMPTION!!!

According to the Press Notice given by the Oyo State Government, as stated below;

The 2026/2027 session begins on Monday, 14 September, 2026. Full Academic programme should commence on the first day of each term.

All Public Holidays are to be observed as may be directed by the Federal/State Governments.

All Public and Private Schools are to adhere strictly to the School Calendar, as contravention of the School Calendar attracts a penalty.

Schools operating International Curricula that wish to adopt academic dates outside the approved 2026/2027 academic calendar shall apply for calendar flexibility in accordance with the prescribed guidelines.

The Calendar Flexibility Application Form is obtainable from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

CHATHAM HOUSE RULE as Alternative

Cedars for Human Welfare Initiative CEHUWEI within 1st - 3rd September, 2026 joined other critical stakeholders at the Southern Regional Stakeholder Workshop on Nigeria's Official Development Assistance Transition Strategy Programme (ODA-TSP).

Nigeria is at a critical inflexion point in its development financing model. For decades, ODA has sustained essential services across health, education, gender and social inclusion, and Humanitarian response. The global aid environment is now shifting rapidly, with adverse consequences for fiscal planning, Programme continuity, and socio-economic stability.

Therefore, in a bid to identify alternative financing pathways to supplement diminishing Official Development Assistance (ODA), it is against this backdrop that the Nigeria ODA-TSP brought together the South West, South East, and South South into a single consolidated Southern Workshop in which participants examined the implications of declining ODA for the region, review evidence from the ODA-TSP's ongoing research, and explore practical transition pathways.

In his critical analysis, Prof Ayo Salami the facilitator with sauce said "ODA is diminishing because the PRIORITY of the providers are CHANGING".

LEADERSHIP & STRATEGIC REFLECTION RETREAT ON CSO SELF REGULATION
Our Executive Director as the State Lead/Chairperson for the CSO Community (CsoC) Cso Oyo State Oyo State based on the invitation of The Ethics and Good Leadership Awareness Initiative-EGLAI with support from the European Union in Nigeria funded CSO Bridge project Implemented by International IDEA, hosted a Leadership and Strategic Reflection Retreat with the Theme:
'Strengthening State-Level Leadership for the Adoption, Institutionalization, and Sustainability of CSO Self-Regulation'.

In Nigeria, Civil Society Organizations are key drivers of governance, accountability, and community development. Therefore, to enhance credibility and impact, there is growing momentum toward CSO Self-Regulation - a voluntary framework where CSOs commit to shared standards, ethics, transparency, and accountability.

For this to be result-based, strong state-level leadership is critical, State networks and platforms have the mandate to champion adoption, drive institutionalization, and ensure long-term sustainability of self-regulation within their states.

Some of the objectives of the Retreat is to Strengthen leadership capacity of state networks and platforms to champion CSO self-regulation; Deepen understanding of the principles, benefits, and mechanisms of CSO self-regulation; Develop state-specific strategies for adoption and institutionalization of self-regulation frameworks; Identify challenges and opportunities for sustainability at the state level; and Foster peer learning and collaboration among state networks to share best practices.
