Being Prolong to John Ojekanmi

Today in Ogbomoso as we bid farewell of commendations in honour of John Ojekanmi who lost this earthly house and transited to the great beyond to tranquil heaven at the relatively young age of 62.

To live in the hearts of those we love is not to die. John lives on, your memory endures and your example stands out in terms of your great accomplishments.

We encourage the wife, Mrs. Oyekanmi, the children & AGSO family to find solace in the outpouring of love and respect from those who admire John Ojekanmi.

Almighty God, we thank you for everything we treasured about John, for all that he means to us. Take care of him, Lord, until we all reach that time and place where every tear is dry, every question answered and all things are made new. Lord in your love hear our supplication. Amen.

John's friend since 1975.

Citation for Mr. John Ojekanmi
We are gathered here today to honour and celebrate the life of a remarkable man, Mr. John Ojekanmi, whose journey among us came to a peaceful end on the evening of 13th September 2024. Mr. Ojekanmi was a man of noble character, a pioneer, and a pillar in both his community and professional circles.

Born with a heart for service, Mr. Ojekanmi was a proud member of the pioneer set of 1981 of Anglican Grammar School, Ogbomoso. His deep-rooted connection with the school went beyond his days as a student. In fact, he became the pioneer president of the Anglican Grammar School Ogbomoso Old Students Association, where his leadership and passion were unparalleled.

When the association faced challenges during its inception, it was Mr. Ojekanmi who practically single-handedly revived it with support of likeminded old students. Through his tireless efforts, the association stood on its feet and began to thrive, and even after stepping down as president, he continued to offer his wisdom and presence, ever willing to serve.
In his professional life, Mr. Ojekanmi was a dedicated and selfless public servant.

He had an illustrious career in the Oyo State Local Government Administration, where he rose through the ranks to become the Head of Local Government Administration at Ogo Oluwa Local Government. As a seasoned administrator, he was widely known for his commitment to excellence, his people-management skills, and his ability to mentor and motivate others. He was a man who not only commanded respect but also nurtured the growth of those around him, making an indelible impact on the lives of many.

Even in retirement, Mr. Ojekanmi remained active, continuing his routine neighbourhood visits, which brought him joy and connection with the community he loved so dearly. It was after one such visit that he peacefully departed from this world, leaving behind a legacy of service, dedication, and love for humanity.

As we bid farewell to Mr. John Ojekanmi, we remember him as a true servant-leader, a community-builder, a mentor, and a cherished member of Anglican Grammar School family, Ogbomosho, his family and friends. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.

Financial Secretary.
