hinking; Integrity; decades of professional experience in the media and understanding of the gaps in development communications practice in Nigeria. The Centre was established in 2011 with a vision to “Be a major media outfit with strong public service interest relevance for people at the grassroots and at the grasstops”. It works by galvanising people to push for positive changes in critical areas of the society by developing innovative media strategies to mobilise and connect Nigerians to the leadership of the sectors, facilitate the production of content on the sectors by community groups and individuals to serve as advocacy materials and provide some of these groups with the skills to generate materials on their own on these and other areas where they need to engage with officialdom and each other. The two founders of the Centre were part of the foundation team of Timbuktu Media Limited, publishers of NEXT newspapers and operators of 234next.com website which re-defined journalism practice in Nigeria. At its peak, the website was the most visited news site for information on Nigeria and it also utilized audio and video gadgets which have now become ubiquitous in Nigeria media landscape. Both were also trained at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, New York, with the executive director, Wale Fatade, a Ford Foundation International Fellow under the International Fellowships Programme and the director of programmes, Kayode Ogunbunmi, enjoying a Knight Fellowship.
