SELF ACCEPTANCE
Each of us goes through a unique and personal process of spiritual development at our own speed. An essential first step on this path of enlightenment is acceptance. Emphasis in the excerpt is on accepting oneself as one is. Being at ease with one's own skin is a process that takes time and effort. Time periods. For the rest of our lives, it just serves to reinforce how important it is to be authentic.
This kind of thing could happen in many different contexts throughout the day. Think about how much pressure there would be to fit in if you were raised in a very rigid and conformist culture. The person may feel pressured to ignore their own wants, needs, and preferences as a result of this. This individual, however, starts to recognize their own genuineness as they mature and broaden their perspective on the world. On the path to self-acceptance and, by extension, spiritual development, they may come to feel empowered to act in ways that go against the grain of conventional wisdom.
The process of accepting one's sexual orientation is another possible example. It is a tremendous accomplishment in self-acceptance and spiritual growth when, after years of suffering, one can look into the mirror and not feel any guilt, shame, or need to change.
By accepting one's emotions and physical self with compassion and understanding, one can practice self-acceptance in the face of societal pressures, insecurities, and hardships. To be at peace with oneself is to accept one's history, flaws, errors, and shortcomings. It enables us to show self-compassion. Having self-confidence, the ability to empathize with others, and strong relationships are all benefits of accepting oneself.
Accordingly, developing one's spirituality entails forging a bond with oneself in addition to achieving enlightenment and heightened consciousness. In order to live our lives to the fullest, most genuine version of ourselves, we must first learn to accept ourselves. The only way to live a genuine life is to accept and celebrate our uniqueness and value. The fact that we are all different does not make us any less valuable as human beings; rather, it makes us more distinctive, which in turn enhances our spiritual development. Spiritual development and the process of accepting oneself go hand in hand. As we go from one to the other, we gain wisdom, joy, and contentment. :)
