Yesterday morning, Kano Youth Champion Development Initiative joined the Federation of Muslim Women's Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) Kano State Chapter in partnership with International Budget Partnership (IBP) and National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Person (NAPTIP) to celebrate the 16th Days Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Wudil Local Government, Kano State.
The theme of the event was "End Digital Violence Against Women" .

The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of preventing digital violence against women and promoting a safer online environment. It was a great opportunity to engage with the community and discuss ways to address GBV in all its forms.

Earlier Today the Reprentative of Kano Youth Champion Development Initiative ( KYCDI ) joined the global Community to Commemorate World AIDS Day 2025 With a Powerful Road Walk here in kano.

With this Years Theme, "Overcoming Disruptions: Substaining Nigeria's HIV Response, " we Marched to Raise awareness inspire hope, and reaffirm our commitment to achieving the 95-95-95 goals by 2030.

HIV is not just a health issue ,
it is a community responsibility.
Togethe we continue to advocate, Educate, support, and stand with everyone affected.

Kano state is walking towards a future free of HIV.

RH/FP & Adolescent TWG Meeting (19/11/2025)

Today, Kano Youth Champions development initiative attended RH/FP & Adolescent TWG meeting at the Kano State Ministry of Health. We presented our key activities and achievements from Q4 2024 to Q3 2025, including community sensitization, school outreach, youth advocacy, and our contribution to data and programme feedback.

It was a great opportunity to share our progress and reaffirm our commitment to supporting adolescent health and strengthening family planning awareness across communities.

Together, we continue to amplify young people’s voices and drive positive change.

Today morning, The Executive Director Kano State Youth champion Development Iniative had the privilege of attending the Kano State Agency for the Control of AIDS Q4 Paediatric and Adolescent Technical Working Group meeting, held at the SACA Conference Hall. The meeting was chaired by the Director General of the State Agency for the Control of AIDS, .

The Executive Director ,also had an opportunity to present an overview and introduction of the Kano Youth Champion Development Initiative to the remarkable TWG . He, on his remarkable efforts as the chairman , shared insights on empowering youth-led initiatives to address HIV/AIDS challenges, building capacity for young advocates in Kano State, and collaborating with stakeholders to promote awareness and prevention among children and adolescents.

The TWG members provided valuable feedback and expressed interest in supporting the initiative. It was a productive discussion, looking forward to working together to make a difference in the lives of young people in Kano State .

Today morning, Executive Director Kano Youth Champion Development initiative Abdulkadir Musa Gaya I had the privilege of having a session of table discussion with the SBCC officer Mrs Aisha of MSI Reproductive Choice, Kano office, We discussed a lot of issues concerning health matters and also on how to promote family planning uptake in the state, particularly in hard-to-reach areas in Kano State .

We covered some key points, including:
- Increasing awareness and access to family planning services in rural areas
- Addressing cultural and social barriers to family planning
- Improving healthcare infrastructure and staffing in hard-to-reach areas
- Engaging with community leaders and influencers to promote family planning
- Providing education and resources for women and girls

It was a productive discussion, and were looking forward Kano Youth Champion Development initiative to working together With MSI Reproductive Choice to improve healthcare outcomes in Kano State .

(KYCDI) Under the Leadership of Abdulkadir Musa Gaya paid an advocacy visit to the Director General, Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB) on October 15, 2025, aimed at strengthening collaboration to enhance Primary Health Care (PHC) delivery in Kano State.

During the meeting, KYCDI presented its mandate of empowering youth champions to promote health awareness, community inclusion, and youth-led development. The visit focused on integrating youth champions into PHC outreach activities and aligning KYCDI’s initiatives with state health priorities,o particularly Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH).

Key areas of collaboration discussed included ward-level integration, community mobilization for health campaigns, and the establishment of a Youth Health Desk within the PHC coordination framework.

The Executive Secretary of KSPHCMB expressed appreciation for KYCDI’s efforts, commending the organization’s commitment to advancing community health. He assured continued support and pledged to provide an enabling environment for collaboration between the Board, KYCDI, and other key partners such as the Sultan Foundation and CHIGARI Foundation.

The visit concluded with a mutual commitment to sustain partnership efforts aimed at strengthening youth engagement and improving health outcomes across Kano State.

KYCDI Strengthens Partnership with KSACA on Youth-Led HIV Response

On October 8, 2025, the Kano Youth Champion Development Initiative (KYCDI) paid an advocacy visit to the Director General of the Kano State Agency for the Control of AIDS (KSACA) to enhance youth participation in the state’s HIV response.

During the visit, KYCDI proposed key collaboration areas including the integration of youth champions into KSACA programs, creation of a Youth HIV Leadership Forum, establishment of a Youth Advisory Desk, and youth inclusion in Technical Working Groups (TWGs).

KSACA commended KYCDI’s efforts and committed to supporting youth-led initiatives, ensuring youth representation in TWGs, and designating focal persons to coordinate joint activities.

The visit reaffirmed a shared commitment to empowering youth as strategic partners toward achieving an HIV free generation in Kano State.
