COURTESY VISIT TO FEDERAL ROAD SAFETY CORPS RS 11.39 MONIYA UNIT COMMAND

In line with the mandate of NYCN Akinyele Local Government Branch to partner with relevant stakeholders for youth development and community safety, The Youth Council paid a courtesy visit to the Federal Road Safety Corps, RS 11.39 Moniya Unit Command.

Led by the Coordinator of NYCN Akinyele Local Government Branch, Comr. Alabere Sodiq, the delegation comprised the Deputy Coordinator, Comr. Shola Ajiboye; General Secretary, Comr. Adeoluwanii Ezekiel; Assistant General Secretary, Comr. Ajimoti Abdul-Qorib; and Treasurer, Comr. Muhammad Lateefat. The team was warmly received by the Unit Commander of FRSC RS 11.39 Moniya, Commander Olubunmi, alongside officers of the command.

Following The FRSC PRO introduction of the Commanders and members of the officers present, and introduction of the NYCN Akinyele branch team by Comr. Lateefah, Comr. Alabere highlights the purpose of the visit;

1. To formally introduce NYCN Akinyele Branch to the Federal Road Safety Corps.
2. To seek partnership and collaboration with FRSC on road safety sensitization.
3. To get enlightenment and guidance from FRSC on how to preach the gospel of road safety to youths and the general public in Akinyele.
4. To mobilize youths to support FRSC programs and ensure safer roads in Akinyele LG.

Comr. Ajimoti, the AGS stated the reason for the visit and emphasized NYCN’s desire to partner with FRSC on road safety matters, and enlightenment on how to sensitize youths and residents of Akinyele on safe driving and road usage.

Commander Olubunmi C.A. appreciated NYCN for the visit and pledged FRSC’s readiness to collaborate. She highlighted the importance of youth involvement in spreading road safety messages and promised to support NYCN programs.

The meeting concluded with both organizations reaching a mutual understanding to collaborate on road safety campaigns, advocacy programmes, and youth-centered initiatives across Akinyele Local Government. The partnership is expected to strengthen public awareness, encourage responsible road use, and contribute significantly to reducing road traffic crashes within the local government.

NYCN AKINYELE BRANCH ENGAGE OJOO DPO ON COMMUNITY SAFETY AFTER THE OJOO INCIDENT

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Akinyele Local Government Branch, paid a courtesy visit to the Ojoo Police Station as part of its commitment to strengthening collaboration between the youth and the Nigeria Police Force.

The programme commenced with Comrade Lateefah, who introduced the newly elected executives of NYCN Akinyele Local Government Branch.

In his welcome address, the Local Government Coordinator, Comrade Alabere Sodiq, outlined the vision of the current administration. He emphasized the need for all youths in Akinyele to speak with one voice while working together to build a united, responsible, and peaceful community. He also highlighted the Council's commitment to addressing youth involvement in crime and drug abuse through sensitization, leadership, and positive engagement.

NYCN Ibadan Greater City Zonal Chairman and Vice Chairman Oyo State Chapter, Comrade Akintayo, stressed the importance of establishing effective channels of communication and collaboration between NYCN and the Nigeria Police Force. He noted that NYCN requires the support and partnership of the police to successfully carry out its programmes and promote peace within the local government.
It was also stated that NYCN Akinyele Local Government has 89 affiliated organisations, comprising both uniformed and non-uniformed youth organizations.

The Assistant General Secretary, Comrade Ajimoti Abdulqorib, presented some of the programmes being planned by the NYCN Akinyele Local Government Executive. He disclosed plans to organize a Medical Outreach Programme aimed at improving community health and a *"Stop Crime and Social Vices"* Campaign to educate and sensitize young people against criminal activities, drug abuse, and other social vices.

Comrade Sanusi affirmed that NYCN is a law-abiding organization committed to promoting peace and order. He assured the Nigeria Police Force of the Council's continuous support in maintaining security and ensuring a safer Akinyele Local Government.

The Deputy Coordinator NYCN Akinyele, Comrade Shola commend officers in Ojoo Police Station for their dedication and outstanding service. He particularly appreciated their swift response and professionalism during the recent security incident that occurred in Ojoo on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, describing their efforts as commendable and reassuring to the people of the community.

Speaking on behalf of the DPO, The DCO, DSP Abdul Ismail, appreciate the visit and expressed concern over the lack of cooperation among Nigerian youths. He noted that many of the nation's challenges involve young people and urged NYCN to work closely with the police in sensitizing youths, preventing crime, and promoting peace and security. He assured the Council of the police's readiness to support its initiatives.

Also speaking, DCO 2, AbdulKareem Buhari observed that youths constitute about 75% of Nigeria's population and therefore have a significant role in national development. He encouraged all youths in Akinyele to unite, cooperate with one another, and speak with one voice. He further urged NYCN Akinyele Branch to intensify its sensitization programmes to guide youths away from crime, drug abuse, and other social vices.

The visit concluded with a renewed commitment by both NYCN Akinyele Local Government and the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen their partnership in promoting peace, security, youth development, and community engagement across Akinyele Local Government.

COURTESY VISIT TO MAJLIS KHUDDAMUL AHMADIYYA NIGERIA, AKINYELE DISTRICT

As part of its commitment to strengthening relationships with youth-based and community organizations, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Akinyele Local Government Chapter, paid a courtesy visit to Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Nigeria, Akinyele District.

The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the Council with the District President, Bro. Tijani Sodiq, and to establish a cordial relationship with members of the organization while promoting unity and youth development within Akinyele Local Government.

The NYCN delegation was warmly received by the members with their inspiring slogan:

"Build the Youth, Build the Nation."

He also encouraged members of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya to actively participate in NYCN activities and assured them of the Council's readiness to collaborate on programs that will empower young people and foster peace, unity, and sustainable development across Akinyele Local Government.

The leadership of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya appreciated the visit and expressed their willingness to work hand-in-hand with NYCN in advancing youth-focused initiatives for the benefit of the community.

The visit ended with interactive discussions, the exchange of ideas, group photographs, and a renewed commitment to building a stronger partnership for the growth and development of youths in Akinyele Local Government.

NYCN AKINYELE LOCAL GOVERNMENT

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Akinyele Local Government Chapter, under the leadership of Com. Sodiq Alabere, the Local Government Coordinator, rejoices with the people and Government of Oyo State on the safe release of the abducted teacher and schoolchildren in Orire Local Government.

We express our profound gratitude to the security agencies, the Oyo State Government, and everyone who played a vital role in ensuring the safe rescue of the victims. Their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to protecting lives are highly commendable.

The NYCN Akinyele Chapter continues to pray for lasting peace and improved security across Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole. We encourage residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and continue supporting efforts aimed at safeguarding our communities.

NYCN OYO SET TO INAUGURATE NEWLY ELECTED LOCAL GOVERNMENT YOUTH EXECUTIVES AND FLAG OFF YCATEM CAMPAIGN

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Oyo State Chapter, is set to host the inauguration of newly elected Local Government Youth Executives and the official flag-off of the Youth Campaign Against Thuggery and Electoral Malpractices (YCATEM) Project.

The landmark event is aimed at strengthening youth leadership structures at the grassroots level, promoting responsible youth participation, and encouraging a culture of peaceful engagement, accountability, and democratic values among young people across Oyo State.

The inauguration will officially usher in the newly elected Local Government Youth Executives, providing them with a platform to take up their leadership responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to youth development, community advancement, and effective representation at the local government level.

The flag-off of YCATEM Project will serve as a strategic youth-driven campaign to sensitize young people against political thuggery, violence, and electoral malpractice while promoting peaceful elections, civic responsibility, and active participation in democratic processes.

Speaking on the preparation, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Amb Oluwatobi Akintayo, stated that the committee is committed to delivering a successful and impactful programme through effective coordination, teamwork, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

The event is expected to bring together NYCN leaders, youth representatives, government officials, community stakeholders, civil society organizations, and other partners committed to advancing youth leadership and peaceful democratic participation.

Through this initiative, NYCN Oyo reaffirms its commitment to building a generation of responsible young leaders who will contribute positively to the growth and development of Oyo State.
