🔎Pursuit of Justice: Charles County Sheriff's Office Cold Case Files

On May 1, 2018 at 10pm, officers responded to the 2200 block of Stream Vista Place in Waldorf for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located Antonio Lamount Harper Jr, a 20-year old resident of Waldorf. Harper was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased on scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed Harper was walking towards his mother’s apartment with his uncle when an unknown suspect approached and fired several shots, striking Harper. The suspect then fled.

Harper was a rising rapper who went by the stage name A1 Lil’ Tony. Harper's family is devastated by his death and said he had only began rapping about two years ago; however, he had always been known throughout the D.C. area for his infectious smile and personality.

Cold case investigations remain a top priority for our agency. Our dedicated team of detectives and forensic personnel work in close partnership with allied agencies and laboratories to continually review unsolved cases, carefully reexamining every piece of evidence. Investigators revisit fingerprints, reinterview witnesses, analyze available surveillance footage, and apply advancements in all aspects of forensic science including DNA analysis, ballistics, and forensic genealogy when applicable.

With today’s emerging forensic technologies, cases that once yielded few leads can now bring new answers.

Our team remains committed in its mission to bring resolution to victims and their families - an effort that has already led to breakthroughs in cases once considered cold, including the resolution of a 44-year-old murder and the identification of a woman who had remained unnamed for more than 25 years.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office never stops in our Pursuit of Justice.

Charles County Crime Solvers Board members had the honor of presenting Charles County Sheriff’s Office Teen Court Coordinator Sarah Vaughan with a Certificate of Recognition in celebration of Teen Court’s 25th anniversary⭐️

Teen Court is based on the philosophy that when a peer jury determines the consequences, youth offenders are more likely to make better choices and avoid future mistakes. This program continues to make a meaningful difference thanks to Sarah’s leadership, Administrative Coordinator Heather LaBelle, and the many dedicated volunteers and teen assistants who give their time to help guide young people toward brighter futures.

We are proud to recognize their commitment to this life‑changing program in our juvenile justice system. To learn more about Teen Court, visit: https://www.ccso.us/community/youth-outreach/teen-court/.
