Today, 16th July, 2026,
as part of efforts to promote the health, dignity, and wellbeing of vulnerable women and girls in Benue State, the Marymine Motherscare Initiative in collaboration with Foundation for the Vulnerable, conducted a humanitarian outreach to members of Heart Mothers Club and other vulnerable women in Ichwa Community.
The activity was held under the theme "Dignity Restored: Restoring the Voices of Women" and aimed to provide psychosocial support, material relief, and encouragement to women facing socio-economic challenges.
OBJECTIVES OF THE ACTIVITY
1. To restore dignity and self-esteem among vulnerable women in Ichwa Community.
2. To provide basic household relief items to cushion economic hardship.
The activity commenced promptly at 11:00 AM with an opening prayer led by a volunteer participant.
Welcome Address by Foundation for the Vulnerable:
The Team Lead of Foundation for the Vulnerable, Mr. Vanen Ukuma, addressed the gathering. He highlighted that:
- The visit was made possible through the joint efforts of The Marymine Motherscare Initiative, led by Mrs. Marymine Ihyembe, ED, and Foundation for the Vulnerable, led by Dr. Mrs. Nguveren Targema, ED, with support from Zenith Bank
The initiative was strictly humanitarian and not influenced by politics or any politician.
- Some relief items including Maggi, Salt, and Clothes were brought for distribution. A total of 20 sachets x 50 cubes of Maggi and 20 cubes x 20 sachets of Salt were made available for the women.
- He appreciated the women for honoring the invitation despite the activity being rescheduled.
Keynote address by The Marymine Motherscare Initiative:
The Executive Director of The Marymine Motherscare Initiative, Mrs. Marymine Ihyembe, delivered a motivational talk to the women. Key messages included:
- Women should not look down on themselves but should build their self-esteem and place their hope in God, who is aware of all their challenges.
- She charged them to hold on to three key words: "You are Seen, You are Valued, and You are Not Forgotten."
- She emphasized that the presence of the two organizations was proof that the women and their voices matter.
Distribution of Items & Closing:
The activity rounded up with the distribution of Maggi, Salt, and Clothes to the women in attendance. The session ended with a group photograph to commemorate the day.
