GTM Participates in Good Deeds Day 2026 – Celebrating 20 Years of Doing Good
Glorious Teens Ministry (GTM), in collaboration with partner organizations, participated in the Good Deeds Day 2026 humanitarian outreach at Abagena IDP Camp on the 1st of April 2026, joining millions of volunteers across over 115 countries to celebrate 20 years of global impact through acts of kindness and service.
The outreach aligned with the global theme and spirit of the 20th anniversary, which emphasizes collective action, shared responsibility, and the power of everyday kindness to transform communities. This year’s celebration reinforces the message that doing good is not just a one-day event, but a way of life that creates lasting change.
Good Deeds Day Benue held under the theme: “Promoting Hygiene and Nutrition Awareness among Internally Displaced Persons in Benue State to Enhance Community Resilience,” the outreach contributed to the global movement’s vision of building stronger, healthier, and more connected communities through simple but impactful actions.
The program commenced with an opening address by the Benue State Good Deeds Day Coordinator, Barr. Ihechi Olanrewaju, who conveyed goodwill messages from international partners and the Country Director, Mr. Gbenga Adetola. She highlighted the importance of compassion and unity, noting that the 20-year milestone is a reminder that when people come together with a shared purpose, the ripple effect of doing good can reach across generations and borders.
A key highlight was the nutrition education session delivered by Dr. Doofan, Chairperson of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN). She provided practical guidance on essential nutrients for breastfeeding mothers and children aged 0–5 years, demonstrating how locally available foods can be used to achieve balanced nutrition even in resource-constrained environments.
Barr. Awashima Addingi also led a session on kindness and its role in survival, encouraging residents to embrace empathy, unity, and mutual support—values that reflect the Good Deeds Day message of being “United in Good” and strengthening communities through care and connection.
As part of the outreach, nutritious food packs and boiled eggs were distributed to Nursing mothers and children, reinforcing the importance of proper nutrition and contributing to improved well-being.
The engagement provided a platform for meaningful interaction with camp residents, highlighting their resilience and aligning with the global Good Deeds Day vision of creating a world where every individual plays a role in making positive change.
GTM appreciates the opportunity to be part of this global movement and commends all partners and volunteers for their dedication.
As Good Deeds Day marks two decades of impact, GTM remains committed to sustaining this momentum by promoting year-round acts of kindness, empowering young people, and strengthening community resilience—because truly, every good deed counts, and together, we can build a better world.
