Empowering the Girl Child
At Onyang Ronyi Empowerment Foundation, we're dedicated to transforming the lives of girls, starting from our local community Oju LGA in Benue State and expanding our reach across Africa.
According to UNESCO, Africa has one of the highest rates of out-of-school girls, with approximately 34% of girls aged 6-11 and 44% of girls aged 12-14 not attending school (Source: UNESCO Institute for Statistics).
In Benue State, Nigeria, statistics show that girls face significant challenges:
- 60% of girls in Benue State are out of school
- 40% of girls in Benue State experience early marriage before age 18
- 25% of girls in Benue State experience teenage pregnancy
Our vision is to empower girls to become confident, educated, and economically independent individuals. We aim to achieve this through:
1. Sponsorship Programs: Providing financial support to girls from low-income families to access quality education.
2. Skill Acquisition: Offering vocational training in areas like tailoring, hairdressing, and entrepreneurship.
3. Mentorship: Pairing girls with positive role models to guide and inspire them.
4. Advocacy: Raising awareness about girls' education and rights.
