CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY 2026

Prime Youths and Women Empowerment Initiative , a youth-led and youth-focused organization,joined the global community to commemorate International Youth Day 2026 under the inspiring theme:
“Different Contexts, Common Aspirations”

We were honoured to be Part of the two-day International Youth Day 2026 Symposium held at the American Space, Library Section, Benue State University, Makurdi, alongside young leaders, students, civil society organizations, academia, government institutions, development partners and other youth advocates.

The commemoration provided a valuable platform for young people to learn, connect, share experiences and explore practical ways of contributing to inclusive and sustainable development. Key areas of engagement included:

🔹 HIV Prevention and Youth Advocacy

I participated in the Two-Day Training of Community Facilitators on Positive Parenting, Child Protection, and Violence Prevention, organized by in partnership with Health and Gender Initiative.

The training was held on 29th–30th July 2026 at Trust Resort Hotel, Makurdi, and brought together facilitators who will lead parent education sessions in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps and host communities across Guma, Gwer West, and Makurdi Local Government Areas of Benue State.

The training provided practical knowledge and evidence-based approaches to promoting positive parenting, strengthening child protection systems, preventing violence against children, and supporting safe, nurturing environments where every child can thrive.

It also emphasized the critical role of community facilitators in empowering parents and caregivers with the skills needed to raise children with love, dignity, and respect.

As the Executive Lead of Prime Youths and Women Empowerment Initiative , I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to build my capacity as a Trainer of Trainers under this important initiative.

This experience has further strengthened my commitment to protecting children and supporting families through community-based interventions.

In line with this commitment, I will be stepping down the knowledge and skills acquired during the training to our staff and volunteers, enabling them to effectively support child protection efforts, promote positive parenting practices, and contribute to violence prevention initiatives within the communities we serve.

EMPOWERING WOMEN THROUGH CERVICAL CANCER AWARENESS.

As part of our unwavering commitment to promoting women's health and preventing avoidabable diseases, Women's Health Empowerment and Peace Initiative , in collaboration with Prime youths and women empowerment initiative (PYWEI), successfully conducted a Cervical Cancer Awareness Session for the Christian mothers of Mount Zion of Fire Kingdom Ministry during their Annual Women’s Convention.

Held on 23rd July 2026 at the church premises, Old GRA, Makurdi, Benue State, the awareness campaign brought together women of different ages to learn about one of the most preventable yet deadly cancers affecting women worldwide.

The awareness session was led by Mrs. Shiminenge Kyaagba, Executive Director of WOHEPI, while the programme was anchored by Blessing Iveren ILIM, Executive Director of Prime Youths and Women Empowerment Initiative .

Participants were educated on:
👉Understanding cervical cancer and its causes, particularly the Human Papillomavirus

👉Common risk factors and warning signs.
The importance of vaccination for eligible girls.

👉The need for routine cervical cancer screening for early detection.

👉Preventive lifestyle practices and the importance of seeking timely medical care.

👉Debunking common myths and misconceptions surrounding cervical cancer.

This awareness initiative was particularly significant as it formed part of the sensitization activities during the church's Annual Women's Convention, providing a unique opportunity to reach women with life-saving information in a trusted community setting.

Faith-based platforms remain powerful channels for promoting health education, encouraging women to prioritize regular screening, and inspiring them to become advocates for healthy living within their families and communities.

Cervical cancer is preventable, and no woman should lose her life due to lack of awareness or delayed diagnosis.

Through strategic partnerships and community engagement, and remain committed to improving access to health information, promoting preventive healthcare, and empowering women to make informed decisions about their wellbeing.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the leadership and women of Mount Zion of Fire Kingdom Ministry for their warm reception, active participation, and commitment to promoting healthier families and communities.

Prime youths and women empowerment initiative (PYWEI), represented by its Executive Director, participated in the 2nd Project Steering Committee (PSC) Meeting of the PPCA Project, representing Women in Climate Leadership, Benue State.

The high-level stakeholders' meeting brought together key partners to review progress made under the project, reflect on the resolutions of the previous Steering Committee meeting, and assess ongoing climate action and environmental sustainability initiatives across participating communities.

Discussions centered on the various community-based activities implemented following the capacity-building sessions facilitated by . Stakeholders shared experiences, achievements, lessons learned, and strategies for strengthening collective action towards building climate-resilient communities in Benue State.

Representing Women in Climate Leadership, highlighted two major milestones achieved after the training:
International Women's Day 2026 Community Outreach in of Makurdi Benue State,Women in Climate Leadership commemorated International Women's Day with a community engagement on the theme: "Breaking Barriers: Women Leading Climate Solutions and Waste Management in Our Community.The event promoted women's leadership in climate action, encouraged community participation in environmental stewardship, and raised awareness on sustainable waste management practices.

World Environment Day 2026 In collaboration with the Benue State Ministry of Water Resources and Environment, Women in Climate Leadership actively participated in the World Environment Day celebration.

A major highlight was a tree-planting campaign accompanied by the distribution of tree seedlings to community members. Participants were educated on the importance of tree planting, environmental conservation, and collective responsibility in mitigating the effects of climate change.

These activities demonstrate that empowering local communities,especially women with knowledge and practical tools can inspire meaningful climate action and sustainable environmental practices.

Today, 28th July 2026, Prime youths and women empowerment initiative (PYWEI) participated in the 2026 World Hepatitis Day celebration in Makurdi, Benue State, alongside government agencies, healthcare professionals, civil society organizations, development partners, and community stakeholders.

The event commenced with a public awareness procession from NYSC Junction (close to Tonimas Filling Station) through the High Level Underpass to the Benue State Ministry of Health and Human Services, demonstrating our collective commitment to raising awareness about viral hepatitis and promoting healthier communities.

A major highlight of the commemoration was the provision of free Hepatitis and Hepatitis screening, encouraging early detection, timely treatment, and prevention. This initiative reinforces the importance of regular health checks in reducing the burden of viral hepatitis and preventing avoidable deaths.

The event concluded with an engaging symposium at the State Secretariat, where experts and stakeholders discussed the burden of hepatitis, strategies for prevention and control, the importance of vaccination, access to testing and treatment, and the critical role of community awareness in achieving the global goal of eliminating viral hepatitis as a public health threat.

BRIDGING THE GAPS FOR WOMEN'S HEALTH AND WELLBEING.

Prime youths and women empowerment initiative (PYWEI), through the Network of Women in Agriculture Nigeria ), Benue State Chapter, participated in the Community Entry and Stakeholder Engagement Meeting for the Bridging the Gaps in Women's Health and Wellbeing Project.

The one-day meeting, organised by the Global Initiative for Food Security and Ecosystem Preservation in partnership with CBM Global, brought together key stakeholders to formally introduce the project, foster meaningful collaboration, identify opportunities for partnership, and strengthen mechanisms for coordinated implementation.

Held on 14 July 2026 at Doo Palace Hotel, Makurdi, Benue State, the engagement provided a valuable platform for stakeholders to share perspectives, build connections and explore collective actions towards addressing gaps affecting women's health and wellbeing.

As an organisation committed to women's empowerment, gender equality, community development and inclusive programming, remains passionate about supporting initiatives that place the health, dignity and wellbeing of women and girls at the centre of development.

PRIME YOUTHS AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT INITIATIVE (PYWEI) PARTICIPATEDIN THE VALIDATION AND DOMESTICATION OF THE WOMEN'S ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT (WEE) POLICY FRAMEWORK IN BENUE STATE.

Prime youths and women empowerment initiative (PYWEI) was honored to participate in the 5-Day Stakeholder Engagement and Validation Meeting for the Domestication of the Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) Policy Framework, organized by the Benue State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare in collaboration with the Nigeria Governors' Forum which started 1st July 2 to 3rdbJuly at Benue State planning hall,State Secretariate Makurdi.

The engagement, themed "Strengthening Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) Through Evidence-Based Policy Domestication and Stakeholder Engagement"

brought together government institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, community-based organizations, women-led groups, and other key stakeholders committed to advancing gender equality and inclusive economic growth in Benue State.

Throughout the five-day engagement, participants critically reviewed the policy framework, shared valuable insights, and contributed recommendations aimed at ensuring that the domesticated policy reflects the realities, needs, and aspirations of women and girls across the state. The process emphasized the importance of evidence-based approaches, inclusive participation, and collaborative action in addressing barriers to women's economic advancement.

As an organization dedicated to empowering adolescents, young people, and women through education, economic inclusion, leadership development, and social justice, PYWEI remains committed to supporting policies and initiatives that expand opportunities for women, promote financial independence, and strengthen their participation in decision-making processes.

We commend the Benue State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, the Nigeria Governors' Forum, development partners, and all stakeholders for facilitating this important process. We look forward to the successful domestication and implementation of the WEE Policy Framework as a catalyst for sustainable development, gender equality, and economic prosperity for women in Benue State.
