Sustainable peace begins with understanding the issues that create tensions, recognizing early warning signs, and responding before disagreements . From September 16โ€“18, 2026, GoGreen, through the .0 Project under the ๐’๐ญ๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ง๐ข๐ง๐  ๐๐ž๐š๐œ๐ž ๐š๐ง๐ ๐‘๐ž๐ฌ๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž ๐ข๐ง ๐๐ข๐ ๐ž๐ซ๐ข๐š (๐’๐๐‘๐ข๐๐†) ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ž, supported by UK in Nigeria strengthened the capacity of Community Peace Committee (CPC) members in Buruku LGA on conflict mediation and Early Warning and Early Response (EWER). Participants gained practical skills to identify emerging tensions, understand their underlying causes, facilitate dialogue, mediate disputes, and support timely community-led responses.

With particular attention to disputes around ๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐, ๐ฐ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ซ, ๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ณ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐š๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐จ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ ๐ฌ๐ก๐š๐ซ๐ž๐ ๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ฅ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐œ๐ž๐ฌ, the training is helping CPCs move from simply reacting to conflict toward anticipating risks and addressing tensions before they . Across rural communities, households depend heavily on and other traditional fuels for their everyday cooking needs. From September 15 to 18, 2026, community members in ๐ƒ๐š๐ฎ๐๐ฎ, ๐€๐›๐ข๐ง๐ฌ๐ข, ๐ˆ๐ฆ๐š๐ง๐๐ž-๐ƒ๐ž๐ฆ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐Ž๐ซ๐ญ๐ž๐ฌ๐ž, ๐†๐ฎ๐ฆ๐š ๐‹๐†๐€ participated in hands-on capacity-building on biomass briquette productionโ€”learning how suitable biomass and agricultural residues can be transformed into alternative solid fuel for household needs.

The training goes beyond learning how to produce briquettes. The dialogue provided an inclusive platform for community members to identify issues affecting their collective well-being, listen to different perspectives, discuss shared concerns, and explore practical, community-led solutions.

Women are important actors in every community, and they bring valuable perspectives to understanding emerging tensions, strengthening dialogue, supporting mediation, and building relationships across different groups. Their participation in community peacebuilding therefore goes beyond representationโ€”it is about ๐œ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐š๐œ๐ž ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง ๐ญ๐จ ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐›๐ฎ๐ญ๐ž ๐ฆ๐ž๐š๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ ๐Ÿ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ to decisions and community-led mechanisms for preventing and resolving disputes.
