Children’s Day Celebration 2026

In line with this year’s Children’s Day theme, “Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child,” we had the privilege of celebrating with the amazing children at the International Market IDP Camp, Makurdi.

This beautiful outreach was carried out by Centre For Family Empowerment in collaboration with Stella Foundation and Yana Wonder Park, with support from FarmersWallet

Away from home but not away from love, laughter, and hope the day was filled with smiles, excitement, dancing competitions, fun games, and moments of joy that reminded every child that they are seen, valued, and celebrated.

Beyond the fun, we also engaged the children in psychosocial support activities aimed at encouraging emotional healing, confidence, and happiness. Even the mothers were not left out as they joined in the celebration, creating unforgettable memories together.

Seeing the happiness on the children’s faces was truly priceless and a reminder that kindness, love, and inclusion can brighten even the hardest situations.

Happy Children’s Day to every child you are the future, and your dreams matter.

Last week, a three-day technical training and
A consultative workshop was held at the BICD office, organized by the United Nations Development Programme in partnership with the Ministry of Humanitarian and Disaster Management to refine the operational guidelines for implementing the State Durable Solutions Action Plan within the context of displacement management and recovery.

The workshop brought together key stakeholders, including Centre For Family Empowerment State Emergency Management Agency, the Bureau of Statistics, BICD, and other relevant organizations working in the humanitarian and development sectors. Discussions focused on strengthening the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) framework, reviewing design principles, templates, and defining what constitutes an effective and internationally compliant SOP.

A major highlight of the training was the emphasis on developing gender-responsive and protection-sensitive SOPs that align with international best practices and humanitarian standards. Participants explored approaches that ensure the safety, dignity, inclusion, and rights of displaced persons are fully protected throughout the implementation process.

The Durable Solutions framework emphasizes creating sustainable pathways for displaced persons through voluntary return, local integration, and improved access to livelihoods and social services. It also prioritizes the protection of housing, land, and property rights, while ensuring that women and vulnerable groups are meaningfully included in decision-making processes affecting their lives and communities.

The engagement further reinforced the collective commitment of government institutions, development partners, and civil society organizations to building inclusive, rights-based, and people-centered solutions that promote long-term stability, resilience, dignity, and safety for internally displaced persons and affected communities.

Restoring Hope, Strengthening Family

International Day of Family 2026

Today, as the world marks the International Day of Families, we are reminded that behind every strong community is a family fighting daily battles, overcoming loss, and holding on to hope for a better tomorrow.

Losing a partner is one of life’s deepest pains. Beyond the emotional grief, many widows and widowers are left with the heavy burden of raising children alone, struggling financially, and trying to rebuild stability for their families.

For many children, the loss of a parent can also mean uncertainty about education, care, and the future.
This is why Centre For Family Empowerment (CFE), in collaboration with FarmersWallet chose to make an impact where it matters most by supporting vulnerable families and helping them regain dignity, stability, and hope.

As part of the and Wallet Social Safety Nets Initiative, grants totaling ₦250,000 were presented to four widows and one widower from Guma, Makurdi , Agatu, and Gwer East Local Government Areas of Benue State to support their and improve the -being of their children.

In another remarkable gesture of compassion, Farmers Wallet also wrote off loans totaling over ₦2 million owed by their late spouses who were beneficiaries of the company’s loan scheme.

This initiative is not just about financial assistance; it is about reminding families that they are not forgotten and that together, we can build resilient homes and healthier communities.

We sincerely appreciate the presence and support of the National Human Rights Commission, Benue State Chapter, as well as the NUGELS Chairmen of Makurdi , Guma and Gwer East for honoring our invitation and for their goodwill messages that encouraged and inspired the beneficiary families.

We are proud of this meaningful step and hopeful that this empowerment initiative will continue yearly, reaching more vulnerable families across Benue State and beyond.
