Okaha Women and Children Development Organisation - Owacdo , in partnership with Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour, hosted Female Prefects from selected secondary schools across Makurdi to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child with the theme: 'The Girl I Am, Embracing Leadership'.

Dr. Beatrice led a session on the need for girls to embrace leadership and be passionate about it. She emphasized the importance of self-awareness and the ability to lead oneself as basic tools for leading others.

Mrs. Queen Ameh of OWADCO enlightened the girls on Gender-Based Violence. Her session was very interactive as she connected with the girls through questions and answers.

Becky Banka also led a session on menstrual hygiene, thereby strengthening the girls' resolve to take care of themselves during menstruation, as poor hygiene can affect their confidence and ultimately their ability to lead others properly.

Also in attendance was the NACTAL State Coordinator and Vice Chairman of Otukpo LGA, Hon. Soo Enuwa, in attendance. She spoke to the girls about the need for the female gender to be involved in governance.

The day's event was memorable, as it was beautifully anchored by Debby.

The girls received sanitary pads and a booklet on Human Trafficking, carefully curated by the amiable Executive Director of House of Hilkiah Foundation, Dorothy Akende .

We believe that the celebration has ignited a passion in the hearts of the girls, and they'll take it to their various schools.

Okaha Women & Children Development Organisation Condemns the *BRUTAL MURDER OF DEBORAH OKWORI* (My Niece)

OWACDO Management and Staff has received with deep shock and utter dismay the heartbreaking news of the gruesome murder of our daughter, sister and Niece, *Miss Deborah Moses Okwori* , a native of Ohuhu Owo, Oju LGA of Benue State. Deborah was violently stabbed to death in Lagos on September 4, 2025, in the evening by her ex-boyfriend, Mr. Lintex Ogale, from Otukpo LGA. This senseless act of wickedness is one that words cannot fully capture, as it has robbed our family and community of a bright, promising, and industrious young lady who had just completed her compulsory national assignment (NYSC) and had begun to establish herself as an interior decorator. For a young lady with so much potential and promise to be cut down in her prime in such a cruel manner is not only a tragedy for us the immediate family but also a heavy blow to the entire Igede nation. It is an affront to the values of humanity, dignity, and respect for life that we hold.

We, therefore, in the strongest possible terms, condemn this barbaric act and demand that the State Police Command, FIDA and SARC, Lagos State expedite action on this case. We call for a thorough investigation, diligent prosecution, and quick uncompromising delivery of justice. The suspect must not only be tried but must face the full wrath of the law without any delay or interference. Anything less would amount to complicity and injustice.

We also urge the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Civil Society Organisations, Women's Rights Advocates, and all well-meaning Nigerians to stand with us in demanding justice for Deborah. Her death must not be another statistic, nor should it be swept under the carpet. Violence against women—especially crimes of passion, domestic violence, and Gender-based killings—will not be tolerated in our society.

Benue Girl Mvrdered by Ex-Boyfriend for Breaking Up With Him - My Sister in-laws daughter!!!

A fast-rising interior designer, Deborah Moses, popularly known as Deb’rah Porsche, has been brutally murdered by her ex-boyfriend in Lagos, months after ending their relationship.

IDOMA VOICE gathered that the suspect, identified as Lintex, a native of Otukpo in Benue State, allegedly gained entry into her residence late Wednesday night after deceiving estate security that he was a dispatch rider.

According to accounts shared by activist Meddy Olotu, the suspect later scaled the fence to gain access to the compound after security raised doubts about his identity.

On reaching Deborah’s apartment, he allegedly cut the cooking gas pipe outside the house in a failed attempt to cause an explosion.

When that plan did not work, he reportedly broke into the house, confronted Deborah, and viciously attacked her with a knife, stabbing her multiple times until she d!ed.

The victim’s sister revealed that Deborah had broken up with Lintex over a year ago, but the suspect refused to move on.

“They have broken up for more than a year now, but this guy refused to move on. He keeps making statements like, ‘If I don’t have you, nobody will. If I don’t marry you, blood will flow,’” she recounted.

She added that Deborah, who had just completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme and was building her career as an interior decorator, had been avoiding strange calls and unwanted advances from the suspect.

“She was only trying to find her feet when this tragedy struck,” the grieving sister said.

The suspect was restrained by neighbors after the attack and later handed over to the police.
He is currently in custody as the family and activists call for justice, insisting the case must not be swept under the carpet.

Market Awareness Creation at Ikpayongo, Gwer East LGA, Benue State

OWACDO, the designated CSO under the School Anti-Trafficking Education and Advocacy Project (STEAP) in Benue State, took the campaign against human trafficking to the bustling Ikpayongo Market.

Addressing the traders and community members, Mrs. Joy Ijuwo urged them to remain vigilant and resist the deceptive antics of traffickers. She further encouraged them to promptly report all suspected cases to the relevant authorities for swift action.

The awareness event drew a large and enthusiastic audience, with many traders engaging actively, collecting contact details, and even following up to report cases. The Market Executives expressed strong support, requesting the team to return and speak again on the popular Akpu Market Day.

The impact of the exercise was evident in the excitement and cooperation witnessed throughout the market.
