MOFF and CSOnetMaDe Partners Empower Students to make Safe Migration Choices.
Thursday 9th July 2026, Mother of FAITH Foundation (MOFF), in collaboration with partners under the Civil Society Organizations Network on Migration and Development (CSOnetMaDe), conducted an interactive awareness session on human trafficking and safe migration for students of Royal Ambassadors School, Wadata, Makurdi.
The outreach began with introductions from representatives of the participating organizations, including MOFF, Elohim Development Foundation (EDF), Glorious Teens Ministries (GTM), Comfort Centre, JODEDF, Eunice Spring of Life Foundation (ESLF), and Cheerful Hands Initiative (CHI). Each organization highlighted its commitment to promoting safe migration and preventing human trafficking.
Facilitators engaged the students in an interactive discussion on the link between irregular migration and human trafficking, helping them understand the tactics traffickers use to deceive young people. Students learned to identify warning signs, make informed migration decisions, and seek reliable information before accepting offers that seem too good to be true.
Recognizing the influence of social media, the session also addressed the growing desire among young people to become influencers, models, or make quick money online. Students were educated on how traffickers exploit these aspirations through fake job offers, fraudulent modelling opportunities, scholarship scams, and false promises of a better future. They were encouraged to think critically, verify opportunities, and stay safe online.
A major highlight of the outreach was the Escape Game, an innovative educational tool developed by the Media Coalition and Awareness to Halt Trafficking (MECAHT). Working in groups, students solved interactive scenarios that challenged them to identify trafficking red flags, appreciate the importance of legal documentation and safe migration pathways, and strengthen their teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
The students participated enthusiastically throughout the exercise, demonstrating excellent teamwork, curiosity, and active engagement. Their participation reinforced the value of interactive learning in empowering young people with the knowledge and confidence to protect themselves from trafficking and unsafe migration.
The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment and group photographs, marking another successful step in MOFF's commitment to protecting young people through awareness, education, and advocacy while working with CSOnetMaDe partners to build safer communities.
