Our approach is to help children and young adults make informed decisions regarding their attitude towards the drug use, and to promote a system of empowerment for parents. We are a group of individuals – mothers, fathers and youths alike, who have come together with one voice: - to take a proactive stand at addressing the devastating effects of drug use within our communities; We have formed a co
llective, aimed at providing support for families within the home front, schools and in community hubs, and at promoting positive awareness on the subject of drug use especially amongst teens in our society. We understand the silence that comes along with a loved one having a drug problem and the discrimination that some families face in openly seeking help. By coming together, we have fostered a combined passion to tackle the problem of drug abuse in our community and have learnt that we are not alone and that drug addiction is a disease and like any other disease - it should be addressed, CAN be prevented and CAN be treated. Our organization aims to promote the following:
• An awareness on the issue of drug abuse in our communities - with the right kind of information about drugs our youth can be empowered to make informed choices on drug use and strengthened not to buckle under the pressure of peer influence;
• Preventive strategies to drug use – boredom has been severally sighted as a major contributor to developing a drug use habit, especially amongst teens. We hope to effect strategies to engage young adults creatively in competitions, skills acquisition programs, music and the arts;
• A platform of support for families through opening dialogue on the issue of drug abuse, establishing support groups and in encouraging active listening and participation by parents.
