Hon. Dauda AG Satomi and the APC Ward Executives, Community Traditional Rulers, Bulamas, and Religious Leaders Support BYPA's Cholera Awareness Campaign
The Bulabulin Youth Progressive Association (BYPA) successfully conducted a cholera awareness and sensitization campaign in Bulabulin, bringing together political leaders, traditional institutions, religious leaders, and community stakeholders in a united effort to promote public health and prevent the spread of cholera.
The programme was honoured by the presence of Hon. Dauda Garba Satomi, APC Flag Bearer for the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC) Constituency in the forthcoming Borno State House of Assembly election and a Member of the Board of Trustees (BOT) and Advisory Council of BYPA. Also in attendance were the APC Ward Chairman, Alhaji Wakil Zanna Kambar, the Lawan of Bulabulin, the Bulamas, the Women's Leader, respected religious leaders, community elders, and members of the BYPA Executive Council. Their presence demonstrated the unity and collective commitment of the Bulabulin community towards safeguarding public health and supporting meaningful community development.
Delivering his remarks, Hon. Dauda Garba Satomi commended BYPA for organising what he described as a timely and impactful initiative. He stated that the campaign had successfully brought together political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other critical stakeholders, proving that the wellbeing and development of Bulabulin remain everyone's responsibility.
He called on government at all levels, development partners, and well-meaning individuals to continue supporting BYPA in its mission to change the narrative of Bulabulin through sustainable community development initiatives. He further emphasised that BYPA is not a political association but a community-based development organisation established to promote unity, youth empowerment, education, public health, and other developmental programmes that benefit the community.
As a Member of BYPA's Board of Trustees and Advisory Council, Hon. Dauda reaffirmed his confidence in the association, pledged his full support, and assured members that he would continue to stand with BYPA in every effort aimed at improving the lives of the people of Bulabulin.
He also called on residents to maintain proper personal and environmental hygiene by keeping their surroundings clean, drinking safe water, eating hygienically prepared food, and observing proper sanitation practices. He urged parents and guardians to pay closer attention to their children by teaching them good hygiene habits and ensuring they are protected from practices that expose them to diseases.
Speaking on behalf of the APC Ward Executive Council, Alhaji Wakil Zanna Kambar, the APC Ward Chairman, appreciated BYPA for consistently placing the interests of Bulabulin first. He described the association as a reliable partner in community development and assured members that the ward leadership would continue to support its activities. He further stated that the doors of the ward leadership would always remain open for collaboration with BYPA.
The APC Ward Chairman also encouraged residents to maintain clean homes and surroundings, dispose of refuse properly, and work together to prevent cholera and other preventable diseases, stressing that community health is a shared responsibility.
The Lawan of Bulabulin, speaking on behalf of his two counterparts who were unavoidably absent, expressed his happiness and appreciation for the initiative, describing it as a positive step towards protecting the health of the people. He encouraged BYPA to remain committed to programmes that promote peace, unity, and development within the community.
The Bulamas also expressed their appreciation for the initiative and commended BYPA for demonstrating leadership and concern for the wellbeing of the people. They encouraged residents to take the sensitisation messages seriously by maintaining proper hygiene and supporting efforts aimed at keeping Bulabulin clean, healthy, and safe.
Religious leaders, traditional rulers, community elders, and other dignitaries offered prayers for BYPA, its leadership, volunteers, and the entire Bulabulin community. They prayed for Allah (SWT) to continue granting the association wisdom, strength, protection, and greater opportunities to serve humanity and contribute meaningfully to the development of the community.
The sensitisation campaign focused on educating residents about the causes, symptoms, prevention, and early treatment of cholera. Community members were enlightened on the importance of regular handwashing, food safety, environmental sanitation, safe drinking water, proper waste disposal, and seeking immediate medical attention whenever symptoms of cholera are noticed.
The programme concluded with appreciation to all the distinguished guests, volunteers, and members of the community whose presence and support contributed to the success of the campaign. Their participation reflected a shared commitment to protecting the health and future of Bulabulin.
On behalf of the Executive Members and the entire membership of the (BYPA), the Chairman expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all the distinguished guests, community leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, political stakeholders, volunteers, and residents who honoured the association with their presence and support during the cholera awareness and sensitization campaign.
He noted that their participation, encouragement, and valuable contributions greatly contributed to the success of the programme and reflected the unity and collective commitment of the Bulabulin community towards protecting public health and promoting sustainable community development.
The Chairman reaffirmed BYPA's commitment to initiating and supporting programmes that improve the wellbeing of the people, while calling for continued cooperation and partnership from all stakeholders in building a healthier, safer, and more progressive Bulabulin.
He concluded by praying that Allah (SWT) rewards everyone for their support and sacrifices, grants them good health, protects them and their families, and continues to bless Bulabulin with peace, unity, and prosperity. Ameen.
