HISTORY
The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Maiduguri Branch was formed in 1984. Since formation the Branch has grown extensively in terms of membership and general development. Among its membership are some Fellows and very senior engineers. In addition to being active at the Branch, many Branch members are also active at the national level. The Branch produced the 24th President of the NSE,
ENGR MUSTAPHA BULAMA, FNSE whose tenure was from 2004 – 2005. Engr Bulama has gone on to become the President of the COUNCIL FOR THE REGULATION OF ENGINEERING IN NIGERIA (COREN) and an Executive Committee Member of the WORLD FEDERATION OF ENGINEERING ORGANISATIONS (WFEO). These achievements further highlight the significance of the Branch in the professional landscape of Nigeria and the world. The Branch is also proud to have many notable members who have served Nigeria excellently and have held some of the highest positions in the country. These include Ambassadors, Ministers, Chief Executives/MDs, Director Generals, etc. NSE, Maiduguri Branch has also helped midwifed NSE Damaturu Branch and it continues to play supportive roles to all Branches in the North-East region of Nigeria. It is the national umbrella organisation for the engineering profession in the Country. It was incorporated as a Company limited by guarantee and not having a share capital in 1967. The original Memorandum and Articles of Association were amended on 1st December 1998. Like some of its counterparts in other professions, the Society has distinguished itself through progressive and imaginative programmes to become the avenue for the professional development of its members as well as technological development of the country.
