Last week as part of the commemoration of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, Enrich-Initiative , in collaboration with BELA CODE, NAPTIP, Heartland Alliance, NACTAL and FRAD, held an awareness talk and community discussion in Khaddamari Ward, Jere LGA, Borno State, under the theme “Trapped Behind the Scam.”

The session focused on helping community members understand the dangers and risks of human trafficking, how to protect themselves and the importance of staying informed and vigilant.

Awareness is the first step towards prevention. By speaking up, sharing knowledge and looking out for one another, we can strengthen community action and help prevent trafficking and exploitation.

Together, let’s build safer communities where everyone is protected from human trafficking.

World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2026
Theme: “Trapped Behind the Scam.”

Not every opportunity is what it seems. A job offer, scholarship, travel opportunity, or even a relationship that looks perfect could be a trap if you don’t take time to verify it.

Human traffickers take advantage of people’s trust and hope for a better life. Let’s be more careful, ask questions, and encourage others to do the same. One warning or one shared message could save a life.

Stay alert. Stay informed. Say NO to human trafficking.

Our organization participated in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) as part of the independent evaluation of UNFPA’s approach to the localization of humanitarian action in Nigeria.

The discussion brought together partners and Youth-Led Organizations (YLOs) to share experiences, challenges, and recommendations on strengthening locally-led humanitarian responses, equitable partnerships, funding practices, leadership opportunities for local actors, and accountability to affected communities.

We appreciate the opportunity to contribute our perspectives and amplify the realities of local organizations working directly with crisis-affected populations. Meaningful localization remains key to sustainable and people-centered humanitarian action.
