๐Ÿ“ Benisheikh, Borno State

Last week, CENSCOPE facilitated a 3-day Capacity Building Training for 64 members of Community-Based Child Protection Committees (CBCPCs) drawn from Ngamdu, Benisheikh, and Alhajari communities.

The training focused on strengthening participantsโ€™ understanding of child protection principles and enhancing their capacity to identify, document, report, and refer child protection cases using the 5Rs approach: Recognize, Respond, Record, Report, and Respect.

Community-based structures play an important role in promoting the safety and well-being of children, especially in communities affected by displacement and other humanitarian challenges. The training provided a platform for participants to build their knowledge, share experiences, and strengthen referral pathways within their communities.

CENSCOPE | NRC Camp, Kaga LGA

Behind every smile is a child finding hope again.

During an unstructured MHPSS session at NRC Camp in Kaga LGA, children were given the opportunity to play, laugh, interact with their peers, and enjoy the simple moments of childhood that every child deserves.

For children affected by displacement and crisis, play is more than recreation, it is healing. It helps reduce stress, strengthen social bonds, build resilience, and restore a sense of normalcy and belonging.

Through these safe and supportive spaces, children are not only having fun; they are rebuilding confidence, expressing themselves freely, and taking important steps toward emotional recovery and well-being.

With support from the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund( ) and in partnership with Center for Advocacy, Transparency & Accountability Initiative, CENSCOPE remains committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to heal, thrive, and experience the joy of childhood.

When children are given safe spaces to play, they are also given the opportunity to heal, grow, and hope again.

Strengthening Community Action Against Cholera

In response to the rising cholera outbreak in affected communities, CENSCOPE organized a cholera prevention training for community and religious leaders from Madinatu Old Maiduguri and Ngarannam, Borno State.

By equipping these influential leaders with accurate knowledge on cholera prevention, hygiene practices, and early response measures, we are fostering a ripple effect of awareness that will reach households and communities across the targeted areas.

When leaders are informed, they become agents of change, sharing life-saving information, promoting healthy behaviors, and helping to protect communities from the spread of cholera.

Access to basic hygiene supplies can make a critical difference in preventing the spread of cholera and other waterborne diseases.

To support vulnerable communities, CENSCOPE distributed cholera prevention kits to 200 households across NRC Camp, Aisha Buhari Camp, and Lawanti-A in Kaga LGA.

The kits contain essential hygiene materials that promote safe sanitation and handwashing practices, helping families protect themselves from disease outbreaks.

This intervention reflects our continued commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of displaced and vulnerable populations through timely and lifesaving humanitarian assistance.
