Timely support to vulnerable Children help them meet critical needs while strengthening their resilience, enables them to recover, rebuild, and sustain their well-being with dignity. Timely support is needed to protect children lives across north-east Nigeria.

In response, FRAD Foundation, with support from the United Nations OCHA Nigeria Nigerian Humanitarian Fund ( ), provide Cash Assistance to caregivers of children identified with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) in Bama LGA, Borno State.

This intervention is designed to help families meet immediate nutrition and essential household needs, ensuring that children continue their recovery journey without interruption.

Malnutrition is both preventable and treatable but timely support is critical. Strengthening household access to food and basic needs can make the difference between recovery and relapse.

Together, we must act to ensure that no child suffers or dies from preventable causes during the challenging months ahead.

In the face of prolonged conflict, climate shocks, and rising food insecurity, millions of people in Northeast Nigeria continue to face severe humanitarian needs. With over 5.9 million people in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states experiencing critical levels of vulnerability, urgent and life-saving interventions remain a top priority.

In response, FRAD Foundation, with support from United Nations OCHA Nigeria and the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund ( ), is launching a 6-month Emergency Integrated Nutrition and WASH Project aimed at reducing morbidity and mortality among at-risk populations in Borno State.

This intervention will expand access to lifesaving nutrition services while delivering essential WASH support to vulnerable households. The project will address key drivers of malnutrition, including poor dietary intake, disease burden, and limited access to safe water and sanitation.

Implementation Areas:
MMC, Jere, Kaga, Konduga, Mobbar, and Magumeri LGAs of Borno State

Target Reach:
26,100 direct beneficiaries
156,600 indirect beneficiaries

This integrated approach ensures that vulnerable populations, especially children under five and pregnant and lactating women receive the critical support needed to survive, recover, and build resilience.

Our belief is simple: when communities have access to quality nutrition services, safe water, and essential knowledge, the risks of malnutrition and disease are reduced, and resilience is strengthened.

FRAD Foundation remains committed to delivering timely, impactful, and life-saving interventions to those who need them most.

Earlier this week, FRAD Foundation conducted a courtesy and familiarization visit to the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Office in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The visit aimed to explore opportunities for collaboration in facilitating access to national identification for vulnerable individuals, particularly clients without formal identification documents. This engagement reflects FRAD Foundation’s commitment to promoting inclusion and ensuring that no one is excluded from essential services due to lack of identification.

During the meeting, both organizations discussed practical strategies to improve access to NIMC registration centers, especially for hard-to-reach and at-risk populations. The conversation also emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination and partnership to enhance service delivery at both state and LGA levels.

A key outcome of the visit was a mutual agreement to collaborate on supporting the registration of vulnerable clients, with NIMC expressing its readiness to provide the necessary technical support. This partnership is expected to improve access to identification services for over 4,000 beneficiaries across targeted LGAs, including MMC, Bama, Gwoza, and Ngala.

This engagement marks a significant step towards promoting inclusive systems, strengthening institutional partnerships, and improving access to essential services for vulnerable populations.
