NVMA, Kogi state chapter pays congratulatory visit to the vice chancellor of federal university, Lokoja, Prof. Gbenga Ibileye:

- Presents award for “an impactful first 100 days in office”,

- Seeks collaboration and integration of members in the management of the institution’s zoo and poultry farm,

- Advocates for recruitment of willing veterinarians into the department of zoology and faculty of agriculture

- Press for the creation of the faculty of veterinary medicine in the institution.

April reminded us on World Veterinary Day that we are "Guardians of Food and Health". May calls us to live that mandate daily, in the clinics, on the farm, at control posts, at the abattoirs, in the labs,at policy tables and it whatever capacity we can.

Interactive Session Between Kogi State Veterinary Private Premise Regulations & Control Committee and Practice Premise Owners From the 21 LGAs in Kogi State:

The meeting held today - 29th April , 2026 with members of the committee and Perm Secretary of the Ministry of livestock development in attendance.

The Director of Vet services and chairman of the committee was represented by Kogi state NVMA chairman - Dr Tolu Omotugba

During his opening remark, Dr Tolu commended the tireless service of all the stakeholders across the Veterinary value chain for sustaining standards that keep their communities safe.

In his words, “Let me commend each of you for holding the fort — often with limited resources, but with unlimited dedication. Because of your work, what leaves the farm gate reaches the dinner plate safe”

“To our premise owners and operators here today: regulation is not punishment. It is partnership. Compliance with minimum standards protects your business, your customers, and the integrity of our profession. This Committee will continue to engage, educate, and enforce — fairly, but firmly”

“So today, let us use this meeting to renew our commitment: to uphold ethics, to insist on quality, and to remember that when veterinary premises fail, public health pays the price”

The vendors were given 2 months to regularize in adherence to the extant rules of VCN before commencement of enforcement by the committee.

The meeting ended around 1pm after a fruitful deliberation with group photographs.
