DEMOCRACY DAY MESSAGE FROM ALHAJI ABUBAKAR ZAKARI OLA

Dear People of Kogi West Senatorial District,

As we commemorate Democracy Day, I extend my warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations to all Nigerians, especially the resilient and hardworking people of Kogi West.

June 12 remains a significant day in our national history a day that reminds us of the sacrifices made by patriots who fought for the democratic freedoms we enjoy today. It is a day to reflect on the values of justice, unity, accountability, and good governance.

Democracy is not merely about elections; it is about ensuring that the voices of the people are heard, their rights protected, and their aspirations fulfilled. As citizens, we must continue to play our part by promoting peace, supporting lawful institutions, and actively participating in the democratic process.

I encourage our youths to remain hopeful, productive, and committed to the development of our communities. Together, we can build a Kogi West where opportunities abound, security is guaranteed, and every citizen can achieve their full potential.

As we celebrate this year's Democracy Day, let us renew our faith in Nigeria and continue to work collectively for a more prosperous, united, and peaceful nation.

- Clarification on the Kogi West Senatorial Ticket for 2027*
Let me educate us on this: For those saying “ARO for Senate 2027,” it is no longer possible because he did not pass through the primary process.
Election is a process with stages, and the primary is the first and most critical stage. Let me remind us of precedent: When Prince Abubakar Audu passed away, Hon. James Faleke was denied the governorship because he had not gone through the proper primary process.
The same principle applies now in Kogi West. For the last senatorial primary, only Senator Karimi, and Hon. Zack Ola contested. If, for any constitutional reason, Senator Karimi is denied the ticket, the next in line constitutionally is Hon. Zack Ola, who participated in that primary.
As it stands, ARO is out of the race by law, unless the party conducts a fresh primary election. That is the legal and constitutional position lecture for today.
