*Why You Should Join PRISCTUN*

We came together to harness and promote our welfare in order to:

1. Harness our teaming members into a Unanimous group of a Union.
2. See to our welfare and defend our interest as a group in the country.
3. Secure in accordance with provisions of the law of the land, job security for all members.
4. Regulate and control the profession and professionals in all aspects and ramifications.
5. Organize internship schemes to equip members with the necessary professional skills.
6. Secure professional licence for all members so as to practice anywhere in the world.
7. Defend members against any molestation, maltreatment, danger, job loss irrespective of social class or hierarchy.
8. Maintain a hall of fame for outstanding and unique performances.
9. Inform member’s usually on the job as it relates to their job and welfare.
10. Socialize together.

12. Assist in maintaining disciple, ethical conducts and enforcement of rules.

*Task ahead of us*
The first thing we are going to do is to organize, it is only in an organized situation that you can articulate your point, that is your areas of operation, how you want to be operated, the resultant effect and the benefits which individuals would gain. When you marshal out your points, advertise yourself properly through the correct platform, then others would be a done deal. This is because the more people know about your programs, the more they get to know you. Before now, people call our activities illegal’ but nobody will do that now. It is in organizing and showcasing what you have as quality to defend the right, privileges, and welfare of the members of the union that would translate to members wanting to join the union.

So first thing is to get members to believe in the course of the union because if a member knows that his rights and privileges are going to be protected, you will see many coming to subscribe to the union.

We are currently doing massive sensitization of all private school teachers in the country on the importance of subscribing to the union.

*WELCOME TO PRISCTUN*

The Private School Tutors Union of Nigeria (PRISCTUN) got registered on the 25th January 2021 by the Registrar of Trade Union, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment under the leadership of Dr Chris Ngige as the minister. As it is today, this set of workers have been coming together since 2013 before official registration, working hard to see how to curb the troubles and challenges that many teachers are facing.
Have attended series of labour training, I can tell you that as long as Private School teachers are given out their best and are not receiving the same, within a short time, we would see them diminishing because of the un-conducive environment they are operating.

For instance, if you check these sets of teachers operations are not guided, also nobody is regulating them even though they are being oppressed by their employers.

Let me also tell you these teachers take-home pay is not commensurate with the kind of work they are doing and this call for concern. I can recall on August 9, 2009, at the Presidential Hotel in Awka, Anambra state, NUT and ASUSS met over a proposal for NUT to be the third force of the labour centre, which the entire educational sector would come together, the proposal then was to form a 12 members union and NUT will be the umbrella, but some members of NUT kick against it and so it became obvious that something must be done to get a shelter for Private Tutors and by the grace of God, today we have a register union that will fight for the welfare and wellbeing of all private teachers in both primary and secondary in Nigeria.

PRISCTUN is a Union, an affiliate of the Nigeria Labour Congress - NLC, and statutorily allowed and permitted by law to unionise all teachers in private primary and secondary schools throughout Kogi State and Nigeria as a whole.
