OVERVIEW
AFEEDi team has a robust activities and pet projects that indeed will aid as well as tackle these daunting challenges as outlined in the pro
blem statement. With over 200 million people in Africa living in extreme poverty and disturbing insecurity. The incidence of poverty increases faster than the population. Africans who live on less than about two dollar a day has doubled in the last 20 years. The questions are: what has worked? What has failed? What is new and effective? What are the forgotten truths in need of great rediscovery? One dominant theme that emerged from our consultations leading to the vision of the organisation is that many of the weaknesses in the current market for public policy, policy research and economic development are the result of the lack of proper knowledge on the policy that works, and how citizen can champion a change and support for a better economy. The differences in standard of living across countries are explained by the discrepancies in economy’s productive potential and in the factors that determines productive potential. The benefit of entrepreneurship and a free society is stifled in societies that do not prioritize justice, respect for economic, civil and human right, freedom of research, freedom of speech and equal participation in market. Our theory of change is based on the conviction that providing entrepreneurs and leaders with the long-term empowerment support that they need to improve research quality, free trade and economic performance will in turn enable them to play a more effective role in policy debates, training, and providing policymakers, NGOs and the media with the evidence needed to develop sound social and economic policies. Hence, we are dedicated towards the promotion of quality educational access, entrepreneurship, development, and the fundamental institutions of a free society through research, education, empowerment and advocacy in solving economic problems.
