On Monday, we celebrated the completion of the Future Pathway Program (FPP) at Divine Success College, Ikorodu, Lagos State.

The ceremony was a special opportunity to celebrate our graduates and present them with certificates for completing the program. More importantly, it was a moment to remind them that the lessons they gained should not end with the program.

We also had the opportunity to speak with other students about the Future Pathway Program, what it offers, and how it can help students better understand their interests, explore career pathways, prepare for higher education, and make more informed decisions about their futures.

To our graduates, congratulations!

As you move forward, don't forget what you learnt. The conversations, questions, ideas, and plans you developed during the program are meant to guide you beyond the classroom.

Your future pathway is yours to build, and we are glad to have played a part in helping you take the first step.

At 15, you are not supposed to have your whole life figured out.

But you deserve someone to help you believe that your future is worth figuring out.

Meet Iwinosa Ojo, a 15-year-old SS3 student of Oxonian Academy, Benin, Edo State.

Like many young people her age, she is standing at the edge of a major transition: secondary school is coming to an end, and the question of “What next?” is becoming harder to ignore.

Then came the Future Pathway Program (FPP).

A space where she could ask questions.
Explore possibilities.
Think beyond the classroom.
And begin to see a future that once felt uncertain a little more clearly.

Today, Iwinosa has a story to tell about what the program has meant to her.

And honestly, this is the kind of impact we hope to create.

Because sometimes, changing a young person’s future doesn’t begin with giving them all the answers.

It begins with helping them ask better questions, see new possibilities, and believe that they have a place in the future they imagine.

What happens when secondary school students are given more than just lessons?

Through the Future Pathway Program, PATHE Initiative helps students explore their interests, understand their strengths, develop research and critical thinking skills, learn about careers and higher education, and begin thinking intentionally about their future.

Students have the opportunity to:
1. Develop research and critical thinking skills
2. Explore careers and university pathways
3. Build communication and presentation skills
4. Learn how to ask better questions and find reliable information
5. Work with mentors and PATHE Tutors
6. Complete a structured research project
7. Build confidence in thinking about their future

As a PATHE Tutor, you have the opportunity to:
1. Mentor and inspire secondary school students
2. Develop your teaching and facilitation skills
3. Gain practical experience working with young people
4. Contribute to improving access to higher education
5. Help students discover opportunities beyond what they already know
6. Join a community committed to education and youth development

Sometimes, what a student needs is not another lecture. It is someone who asks the right question, listens to their ideas and helps them see what is possible.

We are looking for passionate NYSC corps members who want to contribute to the educational development of young people.
