The creative space in Nigeria is truly exploding with talent, innovation, and bold ideas. It was inspiring to see so many creatives showcasing their work and pushing the boundaries of art and expression.

Moments like this remind me how powerful creativity, collaboration, and community can be. Grateful to have experienced it.

Today, on World NGO Day 2026, we celebrate organizations that quietly and consistently drive meaningful change in our communities.

During a recent visit to the AccessTech Innovation & Research Centre in Surulere, Lagos, alongside members of the Small World Committee, we witnessed firsthand what inclusive innovation looks like in action.

This collaboration brought together the International Women’s Organisation of the Charity (IWOC), the Small World Committee, the American Women’s Club of Lagos (AWC), and AccessTech; united by a shared commitment to impact.

It was a pleasure engaging with Paula Campbell and Laila Peysson, Charity Coordinators for IWOC, as well as working alongside Sherrine Boseman Rives, Vice President and Chair of Small World Charity Committee, AWC Lagos, whose leadership continues to strengthen these partnerships.

We also recognize the vision of Opeolu Stephen Akinola and Emmanuella Akinola, co-founders of AccessTech, whose work continues to advance accessibility and digital empowerment.

AccessTech’s commitment to providing technical and digital skills training for persons who are blind goes beyond instruction. It is about empowerment, independence, and ensuring accessibility remains central to innovation in today’s digital economy.

We are proud that AccessTech is one of the 30 beneficiaries supported through the Small World Charity Fundraising Event, “Pearls of Time,” celebrating 30 years of global impact.

On World NGO Day 2026, we are reminded that sustainable change happens when collaboration, leadership, and purpose align.

This is what meaningful partnership looks like. 🌍💙

My heart goes out to the people of Plateau State following the tragic mine gas incident that claimed the lives of so many, including children.

No community should have to endure such devastating loss. I extend my deepest condolences to the families who have lost loved ones and to everyone affected by this tragedy. May God grant you strength, comfort, and peace in this incredibly painful time.

As someone who has worked closely with communities through structured social impact initiatives, and now serving within the mining sector in an ESG capacity, moments like this are a sobering reminder that safety, accountability, and community protection must remain central to how mining is approached in Nigeria.

Lives must always come before output.

My thoughts and prayers remain with Plateau State.

Grateful to see the conversation amplified on Arise News.

The dialogue around strengthening Nigeria’s mining sector, building responsible partnerships, and creating sustainable value continues to gain momentum.

It was an honour to be part of the engagement alongside key stakeholders committed to advancing the industry thoughtfully and strategically.

Progress in mining must be intentional, inclusive, and aligned with long-term national development.

for kemi: Mining Indaba 2026 Recap | Four Days of Critical Conversations

Over the past four days at Mining Indaba 2026, one message has been consistent: the future of mining in Africa will be shaped by responsibility, resilience, and inclusion.

From ESG accountability and decarbonisation targets, to critical minerals, infrastructure gaps, next-generation exploration technologies, and the future of employment in mining — the conversations were bold and forward-looking.

A key highlight for me was the opportunity to interview the National President of Women in Mining Nigeria, Engr. Hon. Janet Adeyemi.

Our discussion centred on two issues that cannot be secondary in today’s mining landscape:
• Child protection
• Women’s inclusion across the mining value chain

These are not side conversations. They are foundational.

Strong ESG strategy must move beyond compliance and reporting. It must reflect real commitment to safe communities, equal opportunity, and structured inclusion. Child protection and gender equity are not optional — they are indicators of long-term sustainability and trust.

At Romulus Mining, these principles sit at the forefront of our ESG framework. Responsible mining is not just about environmental metrics; it is about the social footprint we leave behind.

Across panels, keynotes, and leadership showcases, one truth stood out: uncertainty may be certain, but leadership requires clarity, measurable action, and shared accountability.

Grateful to be part of conversations shaping the next chapter of African mining.

Proud to represent Romulus Mining.

Day 3 at Mining Indaba 2026 | Cape Town

Today’s conversations reinforced one clear theme: partnership, accountability, and long-term value must sit at the center of Africa’s mining future.

From the DRC Breakfast spotlighting governance, investment and critical mineral opportunities, to high-level intergovernmental discussions on resource nationalism, regional collaboration, and long-term value creation — the message was consistent: Africa’s mineral wealth must translate into sustainable development for its people.

Some key reflections from today:

• Regional collaboration is no longer optional — it is strategic.
• Governments and miners must build balanced partnerships that deliver shared value.
• A just circular economy must protect both the planet and producing nations.
• Gender-based violence in mining is not just a social issue — it is a leadership and accountability issue.
• Technology, innovation and AI-driven drilling are accelerating exploration, but trust and governance remain foundational.
• The question of shifting ownership and African participation in mining majors continues to shape the continent’s future direction.

One session that stood out asked:
Are we building partnerships that truly deliver long-term value, or simply negotiating short-term gains?

As conversations deepen around sustainability, investment frameworks, community trust, and responsible leadership, it is clear that the future of mining in Africa will be defined by collaboration, transparency, and ex*****on — not rhetoric.

Proud to be part of these strategic discussions while representing Romulus Mining.

Day 2 conversations at Mining Indaba — ESG without shortcuts.

Today’s discussion was clear: mining companies do not have the luxury of letting ESG lose momentum.

The conversation centred on positive impact as value protection, not optics. Sustainability must move beyond intention to ex*****on.

Key takeaways that stayed with me:

ESG as value creation, not a cost

Risk mitigation through long-term community trust

Investing in resilience and real social landscaping

The need for foundational, shared infrastructure

Stronger social accountability frameworks for investors

Clear decarbonisation targets, with measurable timelines

One question echoed strongly across the room:
Are we losing trust with communities?

Capacity building, honest engagement, and aligned partnerships between miners, companies, and communities are no longer optional. Uncertainty is certain, but in that uncertainty lies the responsibility to lead with clarity and consistency.

Proud to be part of these conversations

Day 1 at Mining Indaba 2026 — a strong start.

Yesterday set the tone for the week.

From the opening ceremony to high-level ministerial and industry discussions, Day 1 focused on alignment, clarity, and action across Africa’s mining landscape.

Key takeaways from the day:
• Strong government–industry collaboration
• Financing frameworks moving from intent to ex*****on
• Technology and innovation as critical enablers of long-term value
• Leadership conversations grounded in policy, capital, and delivery

It was encouraging to see ministers, CEOs, policymakers, and innovators engaging in practical, solution-driven dialogue.

A solid foundation laid. On to Day 2 and the conversations ahead.
