NDAWA was born out of a deep desire to reach out to women in Ndokwa who either through ignorance or lack of proper counseling continues to waste opportunities for self-improvement. Encouraged and highly motivated by this brilliant idea, some foundation members lead by Chief Mrs. Philomena Egwuenu who is the President sent out a call letter to interested wo
men of Ndokwa origin to join the Association. NDAWA is a philanthropic/cultural organization established in the year 2001. it is a body registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, a non-governmental organizations open to all daughters of Ndokwa as well as wives of Ndokwa citizens of character and proven integrity. Our major objectives are geared towards the UPLIFTMENT OF WOMENHOOD in Ndokwa Land in Delta State, with special focus on Girl Child Education and Healthcare. To belong to this non-governmental cultural Association certain conditions are required. Apart from being Ndokwa by birth or marriage, she must be a respectable lady with a legitimate means of livelihood, with at least the basic secondary school certificate and should have attained the age of 25years. She should be known to be of good character, peace loving and ready to serve mankind and uphold the dignity of a woman. Today we are known all over, nationally and internationally and we are consulted on important matters that can affect Ndokwa Land. It is also worthy to note that all registered members of this Association are committed and dictated to ensure the growth of this amicable Association. We stand by assisting each other in good times and in bad times, promote the welfare of members by mutual cooperation and foster unity in order to attain our objectives. The objectives of the NDAWA include among others:
The promotion of education of Girls and Boys of Ndokwa at all levels. The stimulation of public interest in women and children’s affair in Nigeria with particular focus on Ndokwa area
Engagement in the economic development and social welfare of Ndokwa people, paying particular attention to the empowerment of women through skills acquisition, funding and other opportunities provided by donor agencies and government. Co-operation with other organizations that share identical goals and ideals with our association.
