What happens when children are given the space to learn, engage, and be celebrated?

The Little Citizens Festival was a reminder of just how much potential exists when young people are encouraged to participate, ask questions, share ideas, and connect with their communities.

From engaging activities and learning moments to laughter, creativity, and new friendships, the day was filled with experiences that left lasting memories for everyone involved.

Most importantly, it created space for children to see themselves not just as learners, but as active members of the communities they belong to.

You didn’t visit the ocean today… but your actions might have.

Every day, small habits on land travel farther than we think. A plastic bottle, a careless drain, a bit of waste we forget about… it doesn’t disappear. It moves.

It finds its way into rivers.
It breaks down into microplastics.
It enters the food chain.
And eventually, it reaches the very creatures we claim to protect.

A turtle doesn’t understand “plastic.”
A seabird doesn’t understand “human waste.”
They only experience the consequences.

This World Ocean Day, we’re not just talking about the ocean. We’re talking about the habits we normalize on land and the lives they quietly affect beneath the surface.
