RE: DISCLAIMER ON THE PURPORTED “NUTRITION AND DIETETICS STUDENTS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (SOUTHWEST)”
The attention of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN) has been drawn to a promotional flyer currently circulating across various media platforms advertising a programme titled “Beyond the Clinic: Career Frontiers in Nutrition Technology & Industry,” which is purportedly organised by an entity referred to as the “Nutrition and Dietetics Students Association of Nigeria (Southwest).”
The Nutrition Society of Nigeria hereby issues this official disclaimer and wishes to categorically state the following:
1. The Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN) is neither involved in, sponsoring, endorsing, approving, nor associated with the advertised programme or any activities organised under the name of the purported “Nutrition and Dietetics Students Association of Nigeria (Southwest).”
2. As of the date of this notice, the Nutrition and Dietetics Students Association of Nigeria (NADSAN) is not recognised by the Nutrition Society of Nigeria as an official affiliate, chapter, student arm, or authorised representative body of the Society. The only recognised student engagement structure currently acknowledged by NSN is through the individual Nutrition Society of Nigeria Student Membership.
3. Consequently, any individuals presenting themselves as executives, leaders, coordinators, or representatives of the said association are not recognised by the Nutrition Society of Nigeria in any official capacity and have no authority to represent the Society or act on its behalf.
4. Any programmes, publications, communications, partnerships, fundraising activities, or other engagements undertaken by the said association or individuals acting under its name should not be interpreted as having the approval, endorsement, recognition, or authorisation of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria.
5. The Nutrition Society of Nigeria advises all students, institutions, Heads of Departments, Staff Advisers, partners, sponsors, and members of the public to exercise due diligence and verify the legitimacy of any organisation, association, programme, or activity claiming affiliation with NSN through the Society’s official communication channels before participating in, promoting, endorsing, or providing support for such activities.
All Heads of Departments and Staff Advisers are hereby encouraged to notify their students, particularly student executives and representatives within their respective institutions, to dissociate from any group, association, or body that is not formally affiliated with, recognised by, or accountable to the Nutrition Society of Nigeria. Students are further advised to seek clarification from their institutional advisers or the Society before engaging with organisations that claim to represent nutrition students at regional, national, or professional levels.
The Nutrition Society of Nigeria remains committed to upholding professionalism, accountability, ethical standards, and excellence in nutrition science and practice through recognised structures, transparent governance, and officially sanctioned programmes that advance the interests of nutrition students and professionals across Nigeria.
