At CELSIR, it is part of our values that everyone who gives their time, energy and heart to the work we do is deeply loved, appreciated and celebrated. Every contribution matters.

We had the privilege of sending forth one of our amazing volunteers, who has brought diligence, enthusiasm and commitment to her role over the past three months. From supporting our juvenile classes to contributing to monitoring and evaluation activities, she has given her time and energy wholeheartedly. One thing that stands out to us is her willingness to learn, take responsibility and give her best.

As she journeys forth into this new phase of life, we wish her continued growth, greater opportunities and success in all that lies ahead. We are cheering you on, and thank you for being part of the CELSIR story!

A girl’s story is still being written, and her past should never limit how far she can go!

This International Day of the Girl Child, let’s look beyond circumstances and stand up for every girl who deserves to be seen, heard, supported and given room to shine.

At CELSIR, we put this belief into action by providing support to girls at the juvenile centre, helping them access education and the support they need to keep growing.

Every girl deserves people who believe in her. Be part of creating a world where every girl has the support to shape her own future.

Sometimes, the little things mean EVERYTHING.

CELSIR, in collaboration with Show Love for No Reason, visited the Medium and Female Correctional Facilities in Kirikiri to provide humanitarian support and remind incarcerated persons that they are not forgotten.

We reached 120 people at the Medium Facility and 115 women at the Female Facility, providing items such as mattresses, meals and slippers.

One touching moment was seeing the excitement over the mattresses. For some, having a comfortable place to sleep was something they hadn’t experienced in a while. A reminder that even the simplest things can bring real joy!

Beyond the items distributed, the visit carried a message that matters: you are remembered, you matter, and you deserve dignity and compassion.

At CELSIR, we believe everyone deserves dignity, compassion and the reassurance that someone cares.

Some health conversations are too important to have only when there’s an emergency.

In Nigeria, HIV prevalence among people in custodial centres has been reported at 2.8%, compared with 1.4% in the general population, with women in custodial settings experiencing an even higher burden.

These numbers remind us of something important: prison health is public health. What affects people within correctional centres matters beyond those walls too.

That’s why awareness, testing, counselling and access to care cannot be an afterthought.
