Truth is more than memory; it is a pathway to justice.

Today, we reaffirm that acknowledging the past is essential to building a more just and humane future. Victims of human rights violations deserve not only remembrance but recognition, dignity, and accountability.

We remain committed to amplifying voices, restoring dignity, and advancing justice for all.

Because when truth is upheld, healing begins.

No bars against Education!

As part of our Educational Project, we continue to create structured learning spaces where women can gain knowledge, build confidence, and develop practical skills for life beyond custody.

Why education? Because it works.

Studies show that access to education in custodial settings can reduce reoffending rates by up to 40%.

Women in custody often face lower levels of formal education, making targeted learning support critical for successful reintegration.

Education significantly increases post-release employment opportunities, one of the strongest predictors of successful reentry.

Every class is more than a lesson; it’s an investment in dignity, opportunity, and long-term transformation.

Learning today. Leading tomorrow.

Day 2 of the skill training at the ruby house (the first halfway house in Nigeria) reminded us why this work matters.

From presenting assignments to stepping boldly into the next phase of training, our women showed that when people are given opportunity, they rise.

What we witnessed today wasn’t just learning, it was confidence being built, voices being strengthened, and futures being reshaped.

The growth is real. The impact is unfolding.

Last Thursday, we joined the Anchor Heritage Initiative (AHI) at the Medium Security Custodial Centre for the launch of their Chess Game as a Correctional Tool and the ICT Hub Extension.

This initiative provides incarcerated persons with opportunities for critical thinking, personal growth, and positive engagement, showing that rehabilitation goes hand in hand with education and skill-building.

The launch also honored the late Mr. Bidemi Oladipipo, whose legacy continues to inspire humane and impactful interventions in custodial facilities.

We were proud to represent CELSIR, strengthening partnerships and supporting programs that promote learning, discipline, and reintegration.

We discovered that most people in juvenile centers had their education stopped at Primary 6.

Through our Junior Secondary Education program, over 90% students are now back in class, and 100% have sat for the BECE and passed.

Because every young person deserves a chance to learn, grow, and build a brighter future.

Thanks to our partners. Tope Adebayo LP

As of January 2026, around 66% of Nigerians behind bars haven’t been convicted and are still awaiting trial — that’s over 51,000 people held for long periods without a judgment.

Only about 34% of the incarcerated people are actually convicted.
Justice delayed is justice denied.

What do you think should be done to speed up fair trials?

A Bridge Beyond the Justice System

Yesterday, CELSIR Ruby House hosted the first healing circle of the year for justice-impacted women, a safe space where stories are shared, voices are heard, and hope begins.

Our counselor Mrs. Elizabeth Bakare reminded women that there is more than one route to a new beginning. No matter the past, there are many ways forward.

Ideas come before money.
Don’t say “I can’t” try first.

Through these guided healing circles, the women explored challenges, set new goals, and restored balance to their lives. For many, this was their first session ever, a moment of clarity, connection, and self-belief.

Ruby House exists to do one thing well: as Nigeria’s first halfway house for formerly incarcerated women, it helps justice-impacted women heal, rebuild confidence, and step back into society prepared, supported, and hopeful. Ruby House is bridging the gap between confinement and reintegration, creating a safe path toward restoration and a fresh start.

This is not just rehabilitation.
This is restoration.
