This November–December, we join the global campaign to say NO to all forms of violence — physical, sexual, emotional, and digital — against women, children, and persons with disabilities.

Let’s UNiTE to end digital violence and build safer communities where every girl and woman can thrive.

Yesterday, as Nigeria marked another Independence Day, we were reminded that freedom is more than flags and anthems. True independence means living free from fear, shame, and silence. But for many—especially women and girls—harmful practices, unsolicited decision-making, uninformed choices, and gender-based violence still hold them captive.

This is why Sarah’s Heart Foundation in partnership with Rhoda Serene Care Foundation are creating spaces to break the silence. On 5th October 2025, we invite you to join our Twitter Space themed:
“Breaking the Silence: Unmasking Shame and Silence that Sustain Harmful Practices and GBV.”

Alongside voices like Emediong Akpaso (Team Lead, IbomYouth4SRHR) and Aanuoluwapo Owoseeni (Social Development Expert), we will confront the barriers that keep too many from experiencing true freedom.

What if everything you were told about “tradition” left out the truth?
What if the real harm was the part no one dared to say out loud?

This Thursday, August 14 at 7 PM WAT, we’re opening the conversation they’ve avoided for generations — about the hidden wounds of FGM and GBV.

It won’t be easy to hear, but it’s a truth we can’t afford to keep quiet anymore.

Join us on X (formerly Twitter) Space. Bring your questions. Bring your voice.
Because the more we speak, the less power silence has.

It’s time to break the silence.
From today, World Youth Day, until World Humanitarian Day, we, together with our new partner, Serene Early-Trobb Concepts , will be pulling back the curtain on the hidden and overlooked impacts of Female Ge***al Mutilation and Gender-Based Violence on the lives of women and girls.

They told us it was culture.
They told us it was protection.
They told us it was our heritage.
They told us to keep quiet and bare the pain like our mothers did.

But they never told us about the pain, the scars, the silence, and the futures it would steal.
This is a week for truth-telling, story-sharing, and action-taking.
Follow along. Share your thoughts. Use your voice.
Because youth have the power to rewrite this story.

Happy New Month from Sarah’s Heart Foundation

This July, our hearts are full — full of hope, full of movement, and full of everything that reminds us why we started this work in the first place.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be introducing new members into our growing community and unveiling new partners we’re deeply excited to journey with. These are people and organisations who believe in what we do and are ready to walk the talk with us. This matters — because real change takes collective commitment.

We’re building slowly, but we’re building right — intentionally, locally, and with heart.

Thank you to everyone who has stood with us, believed in the work, and kept showing up. July is already looking like a beautiful chapter — and we can’t wait to share more as it unfolds.

Here’s to purpose, people, and progress.
With love,
Sarah’s Heart Foundation

Sarah’s Heart Foundation is a women- and youth-led initiative dedicated to amplifying voices, challenging harmful norms, and supporting the healing and empowerment of women, girls, and vulnerable communities across Nigeria and beyond.

While our journey began last year as an idea, we’ve taken time to build with intention. We are now ready to step into our voice — leading conversations and collaborations around:
- Gender-based violence
- Female ge***al mutilation (FGM)
- Bodily autonomy & Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)
- Femicide and community healing
- Youth-led advocacy and feminist action

In the coming weeks, we’ll be rolling out online conversations, partnerships, and storytelling initiatives — and we want YOU to be part of this.

Whether you're an ally, survivor, expert, or passionate voice — let’s shift narratives and build power, together.

Connect with us via DM or email: [email protected]

We are based in Nigeria, rooted in community, and driven by heart.
